I bought the Sony CDX-F5700 from Circuit City for $200. It has RCA inputs and didn't require a damn thing other than plugging them in. Works like a charm.

bit out of my price range - but cheers anyway !

As i say, i've got a pioneer keh-p3630r radio cassette with a cd changer port on the back. I bought a CDRB10 aux-rca cable to go in it, but can't get the head unit to switch to aux - any1 got any experience with this unit ? Or is it not compatible with this cable (despite it fitting ?)

    Cheers

cost me $475 CAD. It has aux inputs (rca). Plug whatever you want in and go.
Very impressive deck with LOT's of features, eq, BBE, DSP, x-over, etc.

Why don't you check Pioneers website. You can get specs as well as retail pricing for new headunits there as well as download manuals for old headunits. They might have the manual for yours available for download or one like it.

You have to enable the aux port on the deck before you can use it.
With the deck powered down and just the clock showing, you should be able to access the setup for the deck (where you'd change the time on the clock...). One of the options in the setup menu is to either enable or disable the aux port. Once it's enabled, all you should have to do is toggle through your sources when the deck is on and one of them should be the aux input.
