Okay, I have a dumb question on this subject.
What's wrong with just installing an SBLive PCI card that's got the 3 jacks for 6 channel output? You can then just change the headphone outputs to RCA, then to the amp(s). Would this work? Is it only because most of the carPC's don't have room for a PCI card? Or is there a big difference between 5.1 and Dolby Digital and DTS?
Excuse the basic questions, the different sound formats are still a bit confusing.
Thanks,
Kris
Im with superduck... What exactly is the difference? and would it be noticedable when in a car and speakers are not perfectly positioned for dolby (no center speaker, oddly placed front and rear).
Also I thought that buying an audigy2 PCI card with a digital out would be more than enough for dolby 5.1?
Isnt there an adapter that can splice the single digital out into 6 RCA outs?
Thanks for your time in advance...
I would have thought an audigy2 would be compatible with DTS...

Would I need to find an amplifier that supported a digital in DIN? Or so i need some sort of device to translate form Digital DIN to RCA?
I am confused about your post. When you say Digital DIN what are you talking about. DIN is a size specifications for car stereo head units. I think it is roughly 2"x7" double DIN is 4"x7". Please be more specific with your hardware setup and details on your questionOriginally Posted by c0rrupti0n

What i ment by "Digital DIN" was the S-video looking connection that is displayed in the link above. Did i completely loose everyone on this topic?
hey anti, does that panasonic unit you have let you swith between inputs? because i want to basically use it as a head unit. So i would play all my cds and dvd through my carpc's digital out into the panasonic dsp, but if i wanted to listen to the radio, i could just change the input to rca on the panasonic and control whatever tuner i have with external controls? you think that could work? because i cant seem to figure out a good radio solution.
You would loose the single PCI slot if you have an ITX board. I am using my PCI slot for a PCMCIA>PCI adaptor running a 802.11b card. Much better than a USB network card and I can slide other cars in if I ever needed to.Originally Posted by Superduck
