Really good amps IMHO i have 2 MMATS pro series hooked up running at a 1Ohm load. The amp (Soundstream Reference Class A 5.0) has never had any problems, although it does tend to run a little hot. (I've had the amp for about 4 years now and it has blown several sets of subs, however these MMATS seem to keep up well)

The classes are what type of amplification it is.

D is digital amplication which means 100% of the signle is amplified.
Class A amplifies 100% with no distortion
anc Class B amplifies 50% with distortion.

    Thanks Raged,

The classes are important. Class D is good subs becasue the frequency that the noise is comonly found is usually filtered out by low pass crossover. Most A amps are really A/B combos.

    I don't want a D. I want an A/B

    I did order the soundtreem

I have heard that the new soundstream amps arn't as good as the old ones. It will be good to read your review as I am looking at buying one

    2-Ohm RMS Power Output
    Front: 200W x 2
    Center: 130W x 1
    Rear: 130W x 2
    Subwoofer: 500W x 1
    Class A/B MOSFET Circuitry
    PWM MOSFET Power Supply
Double Sided Glass Epoxy Circuit Board

    • STACT™ (STabilized Apex Current Topology) Reduces power supply stress by 50%
    • Auto High Current™ Matches the amplifier for virtually every load application
    • Chassisink™ Transistors are located between circuit board and heatsink for optimal heat dissipation
    • Variable Input level controls for exact input match to amplifier
    • Continuously variable 24dB low-pass crossover (40Hz to 220Hz)
    • Continuously variable 12dB high-pass crossover (50Hz to 200Hz)
    • Hawkins Bass Control™ Proprietary bass equalization topology
    • Harmonic Bass Alignment™ Produces tighter and more accurate bass reproduction
    • Continuously variable subsonic filter (13Hz to 30Hz)
    • Trident™ amplifier protection topology
    • IDI™ (Intelligent Distress Indicator) gives visual conformation of protection status
    • Balanced Line inputs for the highest level of noise rejection • Platinum RCA input and output
    • Platinum 4 gauge power inputs
    • 10Hz – 30 kHz frequency response
    • >100dB S/N ratio• 0.02% THD• 6 Channels
    • RMS @ 4 ohm 65 x 5 + 200 x 1
    • RMS @ 2 ohm 100 x 5 + 400 x 1
    • RMS @ 1 ohm 500 x 1 (sub only)

    3. Soundstream DaVinci

    SPECS

    NUMBER OF CHANNELS 7
    OUTPUT POWER (WATTS): RMS @ 4 Ohms 50 x 4,+100 x 2,+200 x 1
    RMS @ 2 Ohms 100 x 4,+200 x 2,+ 400 x 1
    RMS @ 1 Ohms 500 x 1 (subwoofer channel only)
    T.H.D.: <0.02%
    FREQUENCY RESPONSE: Channels 1-6 15 - 50k
    Channel 7 25 - 2k
    SIGNAL TO NOISE RATIO: >100dB
    CHANNEL SEPERATION: >60dB
    DAMPING FACTOR: >200
    INPUT SENSITIVITY: 500mV - 5.0V
    CROSOVER SLOPES: High-pass/Band-Pass 12dB
    Low-Pass 24dB
    CROSSOVER FREQUENCIES (HZ):* High-pass/Band-Pass 50 - 4k
    Low-Pass 200-800
    REAR CHANNEL DE-EMPHASIS: 6dB
    DIMENSIONS (INCHES): 19 x 14 x 5.5

IMHO, the Audiobahn A5100t has the best bang for your buck (better specs than the D'Artagnan), but the DaVinci is my dream setup.

"The “D” in class-D is sometimes said to standfor “digital.” This is not correct because the operation of the class-D amplifier is based on analogprinciples. There is no digital coding of the signal."

class A has good sound quality.
    class B is efficient
class AB is efficient and sounds good.

do you really have a center speaker in your car?

i'd go with a 5 channel amp and a mono amp for the subs instead of just one amp.
    rebuilding carpc... kinda..

    Can you either
    a)translate that article into english
    or
b)explain what class D does mean?

I always thought the classes had to do with efficiency rating for power, D being the best.

    ???
