I should get my D'artigan amp in tomorrow (well i guess it is today) anyways i will be installing it this afternoon. Depending on if i hit any snags or not i will post a review tonight or sunday.

I was reading the PDF online and I got excited. This AMP should handle all of my needs but only time will tell

@sinnergy. I did look at that audiobahn but (unexplainably) didn't have a good feeling about it.

@jusatry I was wondering what the classes were all about recently. I found a good explaination on crutchfields website. If you are curious do a google search.

crutchfield's site...a much better explaination of the classes.

    http://www.crutchfieldadvisor.com/S-..._glossary.html

that link in my previous post..i was just referring to the first page on how class D does not neccessarily mean digital. i did some more researching and i guess there are two catagories of class D amps and one is digital (or mostly digital).

Ya, I also noticed the audibahn and it seems nice according to the ratings, however, in my experience soundstream usually under rates its amps (meaning the specs they give are well under the actual power output). Also due to my sub configuration, I need a sub channel with the lowest stable configuration available ...

    I have installed the D'artigan 5.1 amp.

I have to ay that I am very pleased. It has accomidated my systems needs and then some.

It is a very high quality amp. I would recomend it to anyone who desires 5.1 surround sound amplification in a car environment.

If anyone has specific questions about it I can try my best to answer them.

One question I have is How do I use the BIO Port to double the wattage on the subwoofer chanel?

its used to bridge multiple amplifiers. i.e. you need another Soundstream amp:

"The BIO (Bridging In and Out) Portô allows customers to buy an amplifier, use it on their subwoofers, and then later double its power output. In the new D'Artagnan 5.1 amplifier, BIO Port circuitry allows users to add a second amplifier, namely the new Rubicon501/, to drive a single subwoofer channel with double the power! Since these amps have true mono channels it is now possible to bridge two separate amplifiers into one load. By inverting one of the amplifiers and synchronizing their supplies, the amplifiers can double their power into one channel, for up to 1000 watts at 2 ohms mono. Furthermore, the variable controls of the first amplifier (gain, Hawkins Bass Control, and crossover functions) will control both units."

    Thanks for the quick reply.

Thanks for the link. It says which am needs to be used with the D'Artigan (Rubicon501/ amp) but I was curious on how to wire it.

It is nice to have the expandability in case i want to push some more heavy duty woofers. Right now i am pushing 1 10" in a sealed enclosure but at 400w rms and it works fine. I am sure i could push a 12" at that power but if i wanted to do two subs i would definitly need to do the BIO port thing. I am kinda unclear on the how to wire them though

    From the 501 owners manual:

    "B/O Port Bridging Option

The Rubicon5Ol/ amplifier has the ability to be bridged to another identical amplifier for double the output by using the BIO Port. When this feature is used, the master amplifierís level and crossover switches affect both amplifiers the slave amplifierís controls are totally bypassed). By switching the phase switch to 180 on the slave amplifier and connecting a RCA cable from the 501/ OUT on the master amplifier to the 501/IN on the slave amplifier both amplifiers are synchronized. Then connect a positive speaker cable to the master amplifierís positive speaker terminal and the other speaker cable to the slave amplifierís positive terminal. Finally connect the speaker wires to a single load no less than 2 ohms. This will supply twice the power of a single amplifier."

Doesn't seem clear to me, but then again I'm more of a visual person.

Good luck and thanks for the review!

I like the looks of this amp and its specs... unfortunately, I couldn't find any other info than what was on that page. Where can I find this amp and how much does it go for? I have a bunch of amps sitting here new in the box to build my system... total of four amps to run 6.1 but if I had an amp like that... I would cut things down to simplify things. Lemme know. TTYL!
