4 to 6 channel amp recomendation for 5.1 DD

I am in the market for a good clean sounding 4 to 6 channel amplifier. The immediate needs are for a 4 channel amp for the Front LR and Rear LR speaker. but if it has a chanel for the subwoofer and center channel i will be willing to evaluate it.

I am looking for your advice on high quality / reletivly cheap car amplifiers. I want a brand with a good name and am looking to spend 100-450 (would like to hit somewhere in the middle)

First off if you find a 6 channel amp I guarantee it won't be cheap. I don' think I've ever even heard of a six channel amp. You may be able to find a 5 channel, but again I'm sure it won't be cheap. As far as your as a 4 channel goes you need to post more info. What speakers are you pushing and what type of power do they require or do you want going to them? On the suggestion side of things: You can go with a set up with more than one amp. In my current set up I only have a front stage with 2-5.25's and 2 tweets running off one amp and then I have my subs running off another. I think this is your best option and if you're just looking for good quality sound and aren't trying to win competitions, I suggest staying withing the power requirements of your speakers and just buying a name brand amp in your price range. Of course if you provide the power requirements then you could end up with more suggestions.

im sorry but i have to post this even though it will cost a fortune, and ive never seen them for sale!!

its a 6 channel 5x50W + 1x250W digital amp, i.e. it has an spdif in!

Okay sorry i didn't provide enough information...

The speakers in the front and back (FL FR BL BR) will need to handle 50-100w rms

I think i will stick with a two amp configuration 1 amp for the 5 speakers up front (center chanel included preferably) and 1 mono amp for the Subwoofer.

I want atleast 500w RMS probably 1 12"

Any specific amp models?

I just put a Kicker KX700.5 5-channel amp in my SUV.

Has remote bass gain knob, built in cooling fan, also included aluminum endcaps to
conceal the wires.

I have it running (4) 6.5" component speakers and a Kicker L7 10" sub in a sealed
enclosure (all at 2 ohms). Still getting whole carputer setup, but I've tested the
system many times now and I'm more impressed by the sub/amp combo every time.

The MSRP for the amp is $499, but I got it for just under $300 on ebay.

As for the center channel, I'm using a small amp and (2) 3.5" speakers.

Soundstream D'artagnan can be had for about 400 off ebay.
5.1 sound, sub channel is 500 watts @1Ohm stable!

What class is it A/B, D,

Also it appears that if my speakers are 2 ohms i can get 100wRMS on 5 channels and 400 watts RMS for the sub @ 2 ohms

I dont think Soundstream has ever used class D power/amps, even my 2 channel 5.0 which runs clean down to .5 ohms is a class A amp. Can't be absolutely sure though, just my assumption. Couldn't find any documentation on the web.
