    Sony Hu's

I was thinking about buying the sony cdx-m8800 or m8805x and i was wondering if XA-300 is needed for the aux input on these hu's. And does anyone own any of these hu's that can give me a quick review on their personal experience with them or with any sony hu's hooked to a carputer. Thanks.

If you do a , you'll find that this question has been asked many times over. I think that the final consensus, as far as Sony goes, is that it may or may not work. I have a 5700 with Aux in and it worked with no mods.

You can always go to circuit city's website. If they have your model the spec sheet will have a spot AUX. If AUX says yes then you won't need the XA300. If it says no you will need it.

    I'm using a old cdx700

with a XA300 aux in addon box..

I was happy with it until I found out it could do something very special.. now I'm over the moon :-) I used to use the aux in, using normal rca leads, from my lineout to the line in.. then after reading these forums found out that I could use the usb socket on the xa300.. I didnt think would work as I thought I would need drivers.. but hey.. plugged it and and bingo.. digital audio now goes direct into the xa300.. fantastic.. it got rid of the tiny earthing noise I suffered from and it also means running one less wire up the car.. just a vga and usb one now does the trick.. I know there not cheap but i'm very happy with mine. :-) + I have got a sony volume stick thing, so I can control most of the functions from the wheel, hence the location of the HU now :-)

    10/10 for sony :-)

even better than circuit city, I've found www.crutchfield.com to be hands down the best source of information about a head unit and exactly what it will/wont do.

looked up both the models you mentioned and both specified "rear" aux input, so your good.

if it said "optional" then you would have needed an adapter

-planning done, still need a few parts
-In-dash motorized VGA is finally out, need $$$
    -Need to replace factory HU
