I am sorry to hear that other people are having similiar experiences. I am going to just use the radio in my head unit. Its currently located under my back seat so I am going to extend the faceplate using cat-5 cable. I'll post pics when I'm done if all goes well.

Unfortunatly I am not that lucky. No head unit in my setup.

So what other options do we have without using a PCI slot?

Get a digital walkman or something and use the line-in. You wont be able to control it with the computer though .

    not a chance!!!

I have been doing a little bit of research and i think the way to go is the hauphogue (<---spelling) Wintv-fm-usb module.

Do a search and i found it reviewed here. It was the winner over the dlink/radio xtreme. The only issue that i havn't reconciled is does it work with radioator. I know MediaCar was planning on supporting all of what radiator supports and now froddoplayer which is probaby the most active developer on this forum supports radioxtreme so i would assume that it uses radiator (i may be wrong)

So who knows if radiator supports the wintv fm usb module?

After even more research it seems that there is no clear winner in all situations. Is there anything I can do that will help get better reception with Radio Xtreme?

    Antimatter,

Just posted in another thread all the part numbers and prices to hook up my Radio Extreme to the car antenna. Aparently I'm lucky, I have no alternator whine. I made sure everthing was grounded good, ran power wires down on side of car and speaker / data wires down the other.

    Antimatter,

One thing I found out was that if I went into radiator I could change the fine tune buttons to go in smaller increments. by doing this, I could go from 96.30 to 96.31 to 96.32, etc.... I was able to bring the stations in clearer being off the "advertised" station number. When the volume is going load/soft, you are close to the right frequency, but not spot on. Try fine tune adjustments with smaller increments, and you may be OK. These settings can be found in the setup menu / hardware / Fine Tuning Step. Take it down to 10Khz and you can fine tune it better.

Went to radio shack today and got the bigger amplifier Radio Shack part #1501109 30db TV/FM Amp for $69.99. Definately increased the reception of channels while driving. Brought the TV in great. Guys at Radio Shack recommended that I go to a car audio place and get a "car" FM Amp. Apparently the will bring a better reception than the Radio Shack TV/FM Amps that I have used. The recommended puting the car amp directly to the Radio Extreme, and their amp on the TV line. I will let you know as more info is available.
