    Dead Bose speaker

My 93 accord came with a Bose soundsystem. The stock HU has long gone, replaced by an alpine unit(stolen), and now a Pioneer DEH-P6600.

When I got the new pioneer unit installed, the guy at best buy told me that my left front speaker was non functional. I have no idea if it worked before I had my alpine unit stolen, or even if it worked when the car was given to me, and I forgot that the install guys at Tweeter told me the same thing when I had my alpine head unit installed.

How do I figure out what's wrong? and if it is indeed the speaker, how do I remove it from my door, and get it repaired?

Replace all of 'em if they're BOSE! Very overpriced for the sound quality you get!

Replacing them all would be a pain in the ***. Not only would I have to then buy 4 new speakers, an amp, have the old ones pulled out and the new ones installed, I'd also have to have the the entire thing rewired. If someone offered me 800 bucks worth of audio equipment for free, I'd pay the labor, but I'm not about to mess with a system that already sounds fantastic any more then I have to (and it does sound fantastic, even with only 3 speakers).

Honestly, I think you'd have a better chance about getting your question answered at: http://www.carsound.com/cgi-bin/UBB_CGI/ultimatebb.cgi
No offense to anyone here, it's just alot of professional installers hang out there, and chances are, they've ran across that type of issue with a customer's car before. When i'm on that forum and someone has a question about a carputer.... guess where I send 'em to?

Your door pannel is easy to take of there should be a screw in the handle for the door and one behind a little plasti square where open handle is. (iam sure theres a better word then open handle but iam tired) the only problem your going to run into with replacing those bose speakers is their impedence. most of the bose speakers are 2ohm some are 4ohm but most are 2ohm. if you replace it with a 4ohm speaker (you wont find a mid rang high range after market speaker lower then 4ohm) your volume will decrease quite a bit in your front speakers. if you go the after market route replace them both. I suggest replacing all of them and wiring around it, but you sound like you want tokeep the system. Call your local Wreking yards and buy one from them, your bound to find one car exactly like yours. If you dont find one ask them for a national parts search youll find it. BTW if you want to learn how to pull your door panel of try looking for a u-pull it (thats what there called here) its a wrecking yard that lets you bring in your own tools and remove the parts you need un-supervised. You could get some practice that way and not worry about breaking anything.
