Using a US Head Unit in Europe

Just wondering if anyone is using a US head unit in Europe. I know there is some issue with US tuners using different tuning steps than European ones. I would like to by a US head unit but am afraid I wont be able to pick up my favourite stations. Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Im using a pioneer 7400 US head unit. it only picks up the odd frequencies. So it will only get: 97.1 97.3 97.5 97.7 e.t.c not the even 10ths of a Mhz.

If you want to listen to those then i suggest you buy one in europe or use a USB radio with yr CarPC. I'm not a big radio person, certainly now i have 13,000 songs on my CarPC, but if you are yr gonna find it annoying.

What head unit are you buying? I have an old Rockford Fosgate headunit (RFX-8140) and it has a worldwide tuner (except Japan) So it will work in the Americas, Europe and Saudi modes of frequencies. I have seen some other radios have a worldwide tuner, so you might want to check into that

No1knows is right, on an american HU you will only get the odd freq on FM. And also if you listen to AM you won't be able to tune in many stations, because in American mode we have 10Khz spacing between freqs (870,880,890,etc) and in Europe they have 9 Khz spacing (870,879,888,etc).

Also you may want to look at other features such as traffic interrupt, RDS, and XM Ready.

I looked at a Pioneer radio here in Germany and compared it with pretty much the same model in the U.S. and I noticed funny differences like the U.S. radio had a clock and XM Radio but didn't have traffic/news interrupt.

When I brought my old Pioneer from the states to here, I had the problem of only the odd numbers tuning in, which proved to be quickly annoying. I could literally only get half the stations.

There's a lot of tuners here that get even numbered stations. I always wondered why.

I think the U.S. only uses odd numbers because radio stations can spill over onto the next tenth.

If you want to buy a Pioneer that will work worldwide, they have a separate name-brand called Premiere. Premiere units include WW tuners and are sold in the united states.
