Any options for car audio?

Let me start by offering a bit of background information: I have a 2004 Land Rover Freelander. It has a great looking head unit and a wonderful set of speakers, neither of which I am willing to part with. I have been looking for an auxiliary input device for the car such as the connects2 and the peripheral. Neither of these companies, nor any others supports my head unit. I don't like fm modulators because the sound is not very good.

Are there any other options if I want to keep my head unit?

I use the HON-AUX version for my carcomputer audio and it works quite well. I just push the cd-changer button on my head unit to get my computer audio.

I am most certain that none of the devices, or any others, are compatible with my head unit (2004 Freelander).

You might want to hold on to your matches. I called cardomain.com as well as peripheral this past week and the LRALPX is, in fact, not compatible with the 2004 freelander.

Hence :

the AUXBMWV2, if you check the appication guide it specifically says it will work with a 2004 freelander

The application guide states that it is not compatible with the Visteon head, which is the one I have (pictured above).

Are there any other options other than AUX-in devices? I know very little about car audio. Could I do something with an amp and keep my current head? I know the head has an internal amp.

if your radio has a cd changer option, you could just wait for peripheral to make one that will work. since its a 2004 model, they may simply have not built one yet.

however, since you will most likely be using it to play MP3's (or am I wrong?) will teh drop in "quality" really be that prohibitive to using an fm mod?
