My relay is different, it doesn't have 87a. I'll see if I can find a relay similar to yours.

if u use acc, the amp goes off with ignition BEFORE the computer shuts off, so u lose the shutdown thump

I'm a little confused on how this relay works. From Binary's diagram it looks like once the opus turns on, it will switch the relay for the accessory line on as well, turning the amp on at the same time the computer is booting up. I must be misunderstanding how the opus powers up.
I haven't thought about it too much but I suppose a resistor and capacitor could work as a crude delay circuit...Perhaps I will try this if I get some time.
I am running a headless setup and wondering if the relay or delay solution will work for my problem.
I have a 2 channel amp bridged for my sub, and a 4 channel amp running the rest of my speakers. Every time I turn my car on or off both amps pop whether or not the computer is on. It's pretty damn loud too. I don't mind it so much, but it's not as cool when I'm showing my project off and practically scare my friends away when the car turns on.
What would the relay or delay do to help me out here?
Well for one thing the pop sound is from a cheaply made amp (legacy&pramid).and some times Expencive amps due to a un regulated remote turn on. U need the remote to start at a low voltage 5v to the high 12v. that could help.
nice, just what I was looking for!

run power wire on other side of car where the rca's are not, and make short grounds, that fixes it most of the time
Wouldn't that switch the amp on as soon as the Opus +12v line is energized? Wouldn't you need to have the amp remote not switch on until the sound card is initialized. It would be better to build a little delay thing with a 555 timer and a 2N3904 to click the relay after a certain amount of time that guarantees that the sound card is initialized.
It seems that the Carnetix CNX-P1260 has a delay specifically for this purpose. Hopefully Opus could add a seperate delay for the amplifier, and set for the approximate boot time.
I remember this quite well a long time ago I had a cheap Craig amp and dual 10s (Pyle Drivers) which boomed out every time you switched on the radio (this was before carputers, like in 1987)
