Weird Mic Problem.. Help!

Maybe you could ask if others with the same board as you are having similar problems or if they can do what you are trying to do. Alot of people have M10000's including me but i don't have a mic yet

But Sound Recorder is recording his voice! That means the hardware is working. It's just that the software is turning the mic input volume down to 0. It has to be a software thing, like SAPI is pushing it down because it thinks it's too loud or detecting feedback or it's getting too much noise. I really think it's an auto volume thing.

I am lost... I just tried my last attempt and installed another set of drivers I found and I still get the same results... It is weird that on every machine I have setup voice on, when you first come in to adjust the volume, the slider is empty and is suppose to move to the right as it receives audio... Mine starts out maxed out with a green bar... The weird thing is if it was receiving too much audio it should be filled all the way across with a blue bar... I am so ****ed right now... I have been screwing with this for 3 days...

I am sorry for the troubles man.. maybe you could tell me what i need to do to try to reproduce it with my setup. We have a pretty similar setup. I could barrow a mic or find one to help you out.

Does it look like this? If the green blocks go into the red, it will drop the mic volume.

That is the screen I am talking about... When I go into that screen the green is solid all the way across to the right... I re-installed windows again last night and then installed the audio drivers from the cd that came with my motherboard... Still no go... I can record my voice perfect in sound recorder and I don't hear any noise at all, but when I go to speech either the one above or the windows "test hardware" under the voice tab I get the same thing... It starts maxed out...

I went to viaarena and searched for mic problems with the AC97 audio chipset and there was like 5 pages of posts about people having problems... I tried all the recommended drivers and still had no luck... It can't be hardware because I can record and it sounds perfect.. I am assuming it is some kind of weird driver issue... I have about given up.. I got no more ideas.. I re-formatted three times last night and tried three different older drivers from viaarena and all the same... I am going to go look for a usb mic today...

Veetid, I ran into the same problem on both my development machine and my laptop (test machine) before I actually installed my voice software in my truck. Someone in a post said they thought it was a "driver" problem and they were partially correct. I need to know how you installed SAPI in your CAR PC. SAPI 5.1 is nuts with thier liscensing. if you created an install wizard for a peice of software you designed on a development computer and then you installed it on your car pc, then you need to add the proper Microsoft merge Modules (.msm, files to the .msi) in the install wizard. (it sounds more complicated than it really is) Once this is done, the install wizard will register the speach recognition or Microsoft Speach Recognizer x5.1

There is nothing wrong with your hardware if it is capturing voice, from sound recorder. Voice recognition and Sound recorder are two completely systems on your computer. You can capture voice from the microphone with built in API's that can with XP, it has nothing to do with voice recognition.

Why is your voice recognition not working correctly ? because your Speach API is not registerred correctly OR in the speach panel (the same screen you clicked "configure microphone") you have selected the wrong version of SPEECH. You need to make sure under "language" it says Microfost Speech Recognizer v5.1) and not SAPI 5.1 DEveloper.

All this has on it right now is WinXP, all my MB drivers, and SAPI5 downloaded straight from microsoft... It is the same install that I have on my deskopt and two laptops, all three of which work perfect... The thing is it isn't just SAPI that doesn't work with the mic... PhoneControl won't work with the mic and also if you go to control panel/sound/voice tab and hit "test hardware" it pulls up the winxp mic setup utility, which has nothing to do with SAPI, and it does the same thing...

That's why I wanted to know if he has a inverter or something...Might be causing some type of noise that the human hear can't hear but the software picked it up. Unless he has a clean power, i.e. plugs in the wall socket or a dc-to-dc, It's very hard for human to hear electrons but machines are very sensitive about it...Don't u think?
