I took no offensive and wasn't trying to be rude... sorry if it came across that way... I was just trying to steer the thread in a direction towards seeing if anyone has had a problem with the AC97 drivers and mic usage or if anyone has experienced any hardware problems related to the mic... I appreciate all the help and I will try what you suggested when I get home... Basically it was just repeated multiple times in here that I prolly had SAPI setup wrong and maybe had the developer selected.... I posted multiple times that I had the SAPI setup right and have set it up many times in the past and that even before installing SAPI and anything on the machine, that basic XP didn't work with the mic... I don't even care about SAPI or plan to use it in my car right now, it was just an example to show my mic wasn't working... The reason I know it has nothing to do with SAPI is that if I do just a WinXP install, install my 4in1 drivers, and Audio drivers, my mic doesn't work... That is the most basic install setup I can do... I did that last night and when I go to Control Panel/Sounds/Voice/Test Hardware it doesn't work... so I know it has absolutely nothing to do with SAPI setup...

I am at a lose and appreciate all your help and suggestions you have given... Everything in this thread that was suggested is exactly what I would assume the problem would be and what I would have suggested, but unfortunatley I had tried all of them already and it wasn't... I bought a usb mic at lunch today and I am going to see if it works....

Well... The usb mic works perfect... I just changed the VOICE Recording device to my new usb mic device and everything worked perfect... So there is definetly something wrong with my M10000 sound card/mic port or there is some weird driver stuff going on... The usb mic sounds a ton better than my older analog mic so I am going to just stick with it, but I really wish we could have figured out what was causing the weird M10000 behavior..

hey, from what I've read, you can be a little bit sensitive - - - so bare in mind, this is just a nooby thought!....

I've recently ordered a M10000, and it seems that all ports (including wha'ts normally the mic in) can be configured as outputs, if it's in 5.1 mode........

....is this a possibility with your config ? :S

You're right. I'm going to go back to the exorcism and live burial I think. The board, the software, and that guy are all posessed.

I finally agree with you guys... I will be performing an exorcism tonight

RobIles: I checked that... thanks for the suggestion though... Sorry if I come across as sensitive...

Sorry if I was rude in this thread... I surely didn't mean too... I appreciate the hell out of all the suggestions given too me... I think what happens is I do most all my posting in this forum when I am at work and I am usually in a bad mood ... I am making this post from the house after work so I am in a lot better mood

AC97 Audio drivers will not allow your mike to work unless you also have the Realtek-ac97 audio drivers installed as well. I had the same problem with these drivers. I have the Chipset : VIA P4M266/KM266 (VT8375)
with the SouthBridge : VT8235 PCI to ISA Bridge which does all your audio bus to the processor, so i went to via website and downloaded the correct drivers for AC97 chipset. By the way, i found my chipset by getting a little program called PC Wizard 2006 from the web. Brilliant free program that tells you everything that is in your pc. The drivers made no difference at all. so i got the Realtek AC97 drivers on the web and on came the mike. Brilliant. Hope you still need this info.
