I need to some basic information about amps

I was just wondering if the maker of an Amp made that big of a difference? If it does make a big difference than what company would you suggest for speakers and for an amplifier.....best sound for the best value?

Each amplifier company rates their amplifiers differently. Take for instance most of the cheap amplifiers on the market you'll see these rated for ridiculous amounts of power for their size. Definitely not worth the investment, buy a lower power amp from a quality manufacturer and you'll have better, cleaner, louder sound. E-bay is a great source for amplifiers if you can find a seller that you can trust. I've seen several used Orion amplifiers that originally sold for $200+ sell for $20-$50 with a non DOA guarantee.

Wow.....thank you WhiteRabbit. I actually read all of that, i only understood about 75% of it but i think i get the picture. I also went by a local car audio installment place and talked with them. They said that the max that i need to put through most sets of speakers is around 50 to 65 watts, aside from subs of course.

So the 6 1/2" speakers will sound better than a 6 X 9 set? <by the time you respond i may have found out because i plan on going back to the store and testing the speakers out>

The store also suggest MTX amps.....would you guys suggest those?

I am VERY grateful for everyones help and I realize i may be asking some stupid questions but bear with me.

mtx performance is on par with earthquake. If you are getting a deal, I'd say go for it.

I havent met a 6x9 yet that I couldnt pricematch a 6.5 to that would blow it away (till I get into the uber cheap ones, then who cares what size the speaker is)

but ultimately, its preference. if you heard a 6x9 on teh board that killed all teh 6.5's, you would make a poor decision to purchase a 6.5 over a 6x9! gotta go with what your ears tell you

10% product, 90% install. the way somehting sounds in the store will be different from the way it sounds in your car. (thats why so many people buy premade bandpass boxes

). also, you can buy the best speakers and amps and have them sound like garbage if you dont install them properly.

Can any one tell me if there is a relationship between adire audio and resonant engineering
I have a Resonant Engineering 15" SE and it looks near enuff exactly the same as an adire subwoofer....
