sound processors are costly, not sure of a cheap one, this is what the jl audio show car uses for its sound processor. http://www.radiomancaraudio.com/deta...alpine-pxah700

Alpine is the top of the line, you can't really get better,

There are probably cheaper alternative of converting the signal

Here's a thought... the issue is that the audigy combines the 6 signals into 3 outputs, and we need to split them up again... I see two possible solutions other than an expensive HU or Phoenix Amp.
    1. Does anybody know of a 5.1 sound card that has 6 analog outputs?
    2. (This is really ghetto.) Creative must be mixing the signals using a simple AM or FM setup. So just make some home brew filters and demodulators? Then our decoded 6 signals to the Amps? The reason I think this would work is the 3 analog outputs on the Audigy are supposed to be connected to 5.1 speakers for the computer which have analog inputs. Having looked at some of creative's own speakers, it seems that the speakers themselves don't have any kind of 5.1 decoder but just some circuitry to split the two signals out of each of the three channels from the Audigy (in other words, the Audigy does the 5.1 decoding, then modulates them and puts the 6 signals into 3 outputs, leaving an outside device to do the job of de-modulating the 3 into 6 again. Seems really backas.swards though...)

You guys can do this real cheap.....Get a MidiLand ADS-3000 processor from ebay. These are old, discontinued, small and cheap Dolby Digital audio processors used with MidiLand's computer speaker set.

The ADS-3000 will accept several digital/optical inputs and will output/decode 6-channel audio in Dolby Digital 5.1 format via RCA cables. The unit has a screen and IR Remote that can be detached and modded to be placed elsewhere in the car.

Once you have your decoded 6 channel output, you hook that up directly to your amp since the output is in the form of RCA cables. Some center channel speakers are self amplified (check out the Clarion SRK5) so the center channel output would hookup directly to your center channel speaker and the rest of the outputs would need to be hooked-up individually to the 5 channels of your amplifier(s). The ADS-3000 has a 9-pin DIN output (aka G9). You would need to purchase a G9->RCA converter cable from MidiLand.com to get this unit to output to RCA's.

The unit's faceplate can be taken apart and relocated from near your amp to your dash with some soldering and CAT5 cables.

I have an ADS-3000 here from my speaker set that I was going to use but have decided against it since it just made everything super complicated.

    Good Luck.

BTW in case it's not clear, I'm talking about the ANALOG outputs on the Audigy not the digital ones (so they're already 5.1 decoded, just mixed.)

The current ADS 4000 does its output via RCA/coax so there's no need for crazy converters. At $130 it's a pretty slick solution... However it's quite bulky (considering you still have to get an amp or two) and getting it powered in the car and stowed away nicely seems a bit complex.

I was under the impression that the Audigy has two outputs: 1 digital, and another set of analog. The digital is not decoded, but I was pretty sure that the analogs are.

Yup here it is from the manual:

Dolby Digital and Digital Surround EX Decoding
Decodes Dolby Digital Surround EX to 7.1 or 6.1 channels, or will pass through a compressed SPDIF bitstream to an external decoder

So the digital isn't decoded, but the analog outputs are.

I have been watching this thread.

Now i feel is time to post. First off what is your budget?

I used the CYAC300-EX processor from panasonic.

The propper way of achieving surround in the vehicle is to run your Digital signal from your computers sound card into a Digital Surround Processor like the one i mentioned above and run that into a six channel amp.

You can hack the audigy to work but was undesireable for me becasue i run a low power setup (EPIA M10000) and have many usb devices including a CDRW/DVD that share the USB bandwidth not to metion a ton of other usb devices including a webcam. Others have experienced choppy audio when the computer was doing the decoding.

Just for the record the audigy does decode dolby digital, however it does not decode DTS and doesn't provide prologic for upmixing to surround sound from stereo sources.

All the above are reasons not go the route of a sound card. Not saying that it wont work but i was concerned with quality not cost. I didn't want to do it half assed. I didn't go big either... i found good deals and products that were priced reasonably.

Lastly learn to search better than you have, This topic has been beat to death and many of the questions that you asked have already been answered many times. Take some time to do some research before you post.

    Good Luck
