only I have actually heard this amp perform, and was sort of impressed with it. Granted it's no old school rockford or kicker, but for the price it's not a bad deal.
One of my co workers has the exact same amp pushing 4 6-3/4" Pioneer 35RMS speakers in his truck and the amp did a fairly decent job of it. At high volumes you can really hear the distortion coming out when cranking Fear Factory.
Check on ebay, you might find something better and or cheaper.
I tested one of the new Pioneer GM-4000P amps when they first came out, 35RMSx4@4ohms, I saw one the other day for 85 bucks or so on ebay, new.
yeh man, dont even bother with a Boss amp. watch ebay, i just did a search and found an alpine, Fosgate, Volfenhag, 3 Kenwoods (i ran a kac-742 on a pair of JBL 6x9's for like 8 yrs without a problem). a decent 150 watt amp will easily power what you want, 150 watts from a good clean amp is wayyyyyyy different from 150 watts from some off brand POS amp. when you're looking for a decent new amp figure on $1 a watt as a guide.

So you're thinking it ONLY takes speaker level, and will NOT work with line-level?

I'm looking to do pretty much exactly what jonoc is doing, on a similar budget, and I too am not an audiophile. That being said, a friend recommended this store, specifically one of the $120 or so 4 channel amps by MTX. Anyone have any input on them?

I know all of you are laughing at this pitiful amp but I was wondering will this do? or is there a better place to find a sub-$100 amp that's decent for this project? Is ebay a good place?

    I've got a '96 Camry (2 5 1/4 and 2 6x9's, no subs and no plans for any)

Feel free to ask me any questions if I missed any details.
For the price it's not bad at all! I had a Boss amp about 12 years ago pushing two big 12"'s and it never gave me a problem. My friend is still using it in his Home Theater converted basement!

no, all car audio amps (nearly all) will have line level inputs. many have exclusively line level inputs!

line level is just a fancy way of saying RCA inputs. do you see female RCA plugs on that amp? its got line level inputs!

its pretty much guaranteed to have line level ins, though.

I just picked up one of these:
    http://www.mtxaudio.com/caraudio/arc...hunder6304.cfm
    from these guys for $125:

There's also the 4244 model which is slightly less power but still quite good, for $110-$120.

I'll let you all know how it is once I've got it installed.
