Thread: How to integrate HU & Speakers with PC+AMP - totaly lost

Thats a question that you should ask at some GM boards for your vehicle. What you're looking for is a way to get an "aux-in" or auxilariry input into your GM HU. That way you can feed the computer signal into the HU and through the amps.

There is no aux-in in the HU, matter of fact, I can't touch it due to the fact that it is connected to the data-bus, removing the HU will disable other functions.

Just go to some audio website, and search for Auxillary Adapter for your car.
I am sure there is one for GM.
PIE is one of the manufacture of those devices.

None available for the Bravada 2002, the Auxiliary Adapter requires either an XM ready HU or a CD Changer, I just have plain vanilla HU with tape and a CD player, I went to PIE web site, nothing to be found.

recheck with the dealership, but also check with audio shops too.

over here, we would get people walking into the shop asking about aftermarket radio's for GM vehicles. We told them they would lose their door chime (thats all that was hooked up through the radio) They told us the dealership told them the airbags were wired through the radio! that has to be illegal. not to mentoin a liw, and totally rediculous.

if you drive a 2002 GM, you *should* only lose the door chime switching to aftermarket. but definitely doublecheck that, your model might have other functions.

other companies make adapters, PAC is another adapter company we use over here, But it depends what you want or need.

It happenes every time in our shop:

us: "you will loose your door chime"
them: "what? I CANT loose my door chime!"
us: "seriously, its annoying as hell, we reccommend the aftermarket radio even as an upgrade because you lose the chime."
them: "no, I have to have a door chime"
us: "we have a PAC adapter that lets you keep the door chime. its really loud though, so we have to wrap it in carpet to muffle it. and thats $50"
them: "****. well, I NEED my door chime, I will pay for it."

*install an aftermarket radio in their car*

*one week later*

them: "can you pull that door chime out? its annoying as ****"
us: (I told you so) "absolutely we can pull out the door chime adapter, just fill out this work order"



moral of the story: know exactly what functions are routed through the radio, and know if you can live without them.

Metra make a GM databus adapter. Their website is www.metraonline.com . The part that I am talking about is NOT listed on their website, but I have installed it many times. It has a black box that has the chime built into it. If you can't find it, PM me and I'll get you the part number. If you still can't get it after that, I can order it and send it to you. You should be able to order it from any car audio shop though.

I think you have the same/similar HU I have on my Toyota Matrix which is built by GM/Pontiac/AC Delco. Asking for an Aux adapter for the HU at Toyota dealer, those guys behind the counter just look at you and like "what the hell you talking about?". Same thing at Pontiac dealer. None of those after market companies make them. They have almost everything but except Pontiac Vibe/Toyota Matrix.
For now, I can just use a tape adapter since my HU has a tape player.
