You could get 10" Infinity Perfect Subs for around $100 a piece. Thats what I use in my car and they really punch hard. I am not sure what to tell you about an amp. Been a while since I looked at amps.

Sheesh I have a 10" Pioneer in my car and thats plenty, if you keep an eye on Circut City and Best Buy, sometimes they have open item boxes and subs together I saw a dual 12" sub box with 2 kicker subs for $100, which from what i've seen is great deal considering most subs are at least $50 to $60 a piece and thats buying a non name brand sub.

My budget is flexible, but I don't want to spend a lot of money of the subs and amps, so something a little higher than 350 would be ok.

He's right, you might consider bumping up your budget a bit. This amp is a mono amplifier and stable to 2 ohms which means you could wire 2 subs in parallel to it and push 420W (Max I think). Price on that amp is $189 and it's about as low in quality as I'd ever buy. However since it's a sub amp it doesn't need to be super clean and should work fine for the designed purpose. If you went with a pair of MTX 10" subs from the same site you'd come in under you $350 budget. Quality won't be the same as with higher end products, but will probably fit into your system quite nicely since you're keeping the factory speakers. Been a while since I listened to any of Rockford's stuff, but I didn't care for them then and have stayed away from them because of it (bare in mind it's a personal preference).

I am running with two Rockford Fosgates (I paid 45 each from www.ubid.com) and a JBL mono amp which I got for 200 off ebay. I just finished building up my car and will be posting it tonight to tomorrow. Remember the enclosure is the key to good bass. Understand the different variations of enclosures and find the speakers that will work best with that enclosure.

The best sub I have worked with (especially if space is an issue) is the Kicker Solo Baric. Extreme amount of Bass very little volume required for the box. Look around I have found this complete with enclosure for under 200.

I'm not worried too much about the space being taken up in my trunk, so the size of the enclosure doesn't matter. I'm going to be building a custom enclosure, probably ported. That is why I'm looking for the subs first so then I can make the enclouse according their needs.

Get you some some jl's you'll never turn back. You could even go with a one 12w6 with a nice 600watt rms amp and I'd guarantee you'd love the sound.

you don't need 2 subs. one is plenty. just figure out what enclosure you want. I prefer sealed cause of the tighter bass (but my current setup is vented). I'm running a cheap ($10 after rebate) infinity 1030w right now with an old jbl 600.1 amp. this setup if fine for me. I was looking to keep the size/weight to minimum. I'm going to be swapping the jbl with an audiobahn 8001 very soon for matching amp (got 6004 in for 4 channel now).

Seriously, unless your screaming for outside attention, 1 10inch (or 12 if you really want) is fine for really good sound quality. Anything over 400watts would be good. no need to go over 800
