    about to begin sub box construction

    ok, I'm looking at building from this design, but I have 2 of them.

    My thought was to build 2 individual boxes with a rack in the middle. How degrading would it be to the quality of the sound to have 2 boxes instead of one ?

    Any big issues here ?

    As long as there is adiquet room (check speaker specs) there would be no difference in output. If you have space I would build a sealed enclosure. The one you have linked is ported/vented.

    Why do you say that ?

    Would the ported speaker not sound better ?
    (I say this because it's a polk design, I'm assuming they know what they're doing)

    Not nessasarily. Ported does work and when tuned right can sound great. Without getting technical it is kind of "cheating" with air space. You can have the box be smaller but the bass isn't as accurately produced.

    Rule of Thumb:
    Ported=Louder/Looser
    Sealed=Cleaner/Tighter

    Both can sound good if done right.
    I prefer sealed.

    u need to build the box according to your speaker specs. Find out the internal volume for the subwoofer you are using.
