    So if I won an amp at the specs above would you recommend I run it at 50 W X 4 @ 4ohms or 100 W X 4 @ 2ohms?

I know just because the amp pushes that much that I don't necessarily have to use that much but the speakers are 100 W RMS so I just thought that would be the best way to go.

And what do you think of these amps here (trying to stay around $75):

ROCKFORD FOSGATE 300X 4 CHANNEL MOSFET AMP

    Rockford Fosgate Punch 400A4

    ROCKFORD FOSGATE 550X

The 400a4. See if you can email the seller for a clearer picture of the birthsheet. It will tell you the actual power output of the amp when it was bench tested at the factory.I bet you it'll do over 50 watts per channel at 4 ohms.
EDIT: looking at the bold text on birthsheet, It says 544 watts rms total power into 2 ohms, all channels driven. If so, then half of that, then divide by four gets you 68 watts rms per channel. Oh,BTW, are those infinitys rated for 100 watts MAX each, or 100 watts RMS each?

    100 Watts RMS each.

What should I expect that amp to go for?

I would assume somewhere in the $50-$75 range. I noticed they are asking $25.00 for shipping as well.

bingo. poor equipment matching, im glad you got it right on the nose. couldnt have said it better myself.

So.. Another example would be that if I used a 2 channel amp rated 100 X 2 @ 4 ohms and only hooked two speakers up to it my speakers would get 100 Watts a piece at 4 ohms. However, if I decided to run all four speakers off this 2 channel amp in parralel then it would change the rating to 200 x 2 @ 2 ohms which means all FOUR of the speakers would be getting 100 W's a piece but I guess it would drop them down to 2ohms? Which.. Why would that be bad?
Ill just repeat what was already said, since the only reason its bad was already said, you lose front/rear fade. So if you dont care about front rear fade, there IS no reason why it would be bad! But if you do, then a 4 channel amp is the only way to go. or two two channel amps.

I am STILL trying to get an amp on my budget. A guy from a forum said he'd sell me a

"Power Acoustik LT960/4 that I've used for 2 months. Bought from authorized dealer so it should still have warranty.

    100 x 4 @ 4 ohms
    125 x 4 @ 2 ohms
    250 x 2 @ 4 ohms

lots of features, great condition, running a set of pg titanium elite components off it in bridged mode. Probably one of the few budget lines that puts out what it says.

    $90 shipped.....its pretty big"

    What do yall think?

Or how about this one Power Acoustik LT-720/4 for $77 shipped.

The specs on the two amps are as follows:

    Power Acoustik LT-720/4 - $77

    Performance
    Frequency Response 10 Hz - 30000 Hz
    High - Pass Frequency 50 Hz - 500 Hz
    Low - Pass Frequency 30 Hz - 500 Hz
Signal to Noise Ratio 98 dB
THD at Rated RMS Power 0.02 %
    Power Output
    RMS Power at 2 Ohms 100 W x 4
    RMS Power at 4 Ohms 85 W x 4

    Power Acoustik LT-960/4 - $90

    Performance
    Bass Boost Frequency 40 Hz
    Frequency Response 10 Hz - 30000 Hz
    High - Pass Frequency 150 Hz - 1500 Hz
    Low - Pass Frequency 40 Hz - 120 Hz
Signal to Noise Ratio 97 dB
THD at Rated RMS Power 0.02 %
    Power Output
    RMS Power at 2 Ohms 125 W x 4
    RMS Power at 4 Ohms 100 W x 4

I'm guessing Power Acoustik isn't exactly the best since these amps brand new aren't over $150... However, I don't need something all that great.. Just enough to get me past my clipping problem.

GRIPES!!! My head unit only was one set of pre amp outputs... So if I get a 4 channel amp I will have to run them it at 2 ohms huh (the left speakers tied together and the rights tied together)..

If this is the case.. Is it impossible to add a sub down the road with having only one set of RCA outputs?
