    SPDIF to RCA conversion

    How do I convert a 5.1 channel SPDIF connector on my mobo to 5/6 RCAs for my amplifiers?

    Google was no help
    Audio Rockford Fosgate: 900 Watt 4-channel amp, 501bd Mono amp
    Computer AMD 2400+ XP, 1 GB DDR RAM, Orbit Micro 250W DC-DC PSU

    Yeah, i've been looking at that as well, and it looks like it's always going to be expensive to go 5.1 SPDIF to 6 channel RCAs. I don't think it's particularly hard to design a circuit like that, i think Analog Devices and TI have a ICs which will demultiplex, then some good quality DACs to go back to analogue... but it'd be difficult to source parts and expensive in terms of time to design...

    pheonix gold as an amp that will accept spdif input, its about $500 msrp, obviously less from the audio outlets, but considering its a pretty decent amp and decoder, it may be an option.

    The phoenix amp is AMAZING.

    Nothing could be more perfect for the application. it comes with a remote control with a remote mounted eye, and a video output to configure on-screen. it's a 5.1 processor AND amplifier, with a direct SPDIF input.

    It's bar-none the easiest way to 5.1 in a car
