If you're blowing fuses whenever you turn on the amp, then its toast. Those should only blow when you're drawing too much amperage (IE, you've got it turned up too loud). Any other time they blow, its cause you've got a malfunction. Shorting it out to make it turn on is a seriously bad ******* idea. You could be dead shorting your battery, leads to dead batteries and melted insulation on your wires. No insulation means fire.

Adam is right. There is an internal short somewhere and the amp is probably blown. I would take it to a local electronics repair shop that does free estimates and see what it would cost to fix it if you can't send/take it back.

Well the amp may be blown now that you've bypassed the fuse. The fuse is there to protect the amp. I think you just had it wired imporperly to begin with. Two common reasons for blown fuses with an amp...the one already mentioned or improper wiring(i.e. wrong wire to wrong terminal, wires shorting, etc). One thing I noticed is that this is a marine amp. You sure dude didn't get water in it or anything?

Well if it's working then that's a good idea. It'll show you if you had the other wired properly.

Double check your wiring before you install it. May be that the other amp was fried due to a bad install. Hate to see you kill another amp if that's the case.

    according to the manual
    for your amp.

    Problem
    Amplifier fuse keeps blowing.

    solution
Incorrect wiring or short circuit. Review installation and check all wiring connections.

Usually, manuals list codes for blinking lights but apparently Clarion didn't think it was important.
