    A5100t w/ 5.1 ch Audigy 2 Problem

I just got an Audiobahn A5100t 5.1 channel amp installed in my car. I am getting highly distorted signals from the computer to the speakers now. Before I was using a USB-to-RCA, but that only gave me 2 channels. I wanted to get a full surround sound system. This amp however is unlike any other amplifier that I have ever come in contact with. There are several problems that I am having.

    1) The amp has a 2, 4, and 6 channel setting. If you set the amp on either 2 or 4 channels then you get sound to the center and sub when you are listening to winamp. If you switch to 6 channel though, it cuts those channels out. I know that it is getting sound to the channels because it plays when I do a speaker test in windows.

    2) When the amp does play, the channels are extremely distorted even with the main and wave sounds at a low volume and the amplifier at a low gain. I am running 3 1/8" mini plug to rca adapters from my soundcard into the 6 channel inputs on the amp.

Here is what I have done to see if I can correct the 2 problems above:

    1) ADS 4000 DAC. This should convert the digital coax output from the Audigy 2 into the 6 RCA channels.

I have a feeling that the sound is getting amplified 2 times and that is why its so distorted. If anyone has any suggestions then please let me know.

dont understand the usb-rca, but anyway, try to isolate your distortion. And by distortion i assume you mean alternator whine? Unplug your rca from your amp and start your car and stereo, rev the engine and see if the noise is there. If not then this means your amp and everything after it is ok. Plug your rcas back in and disconnect the rca from your sound card and rev the engine again to see if the noise is still there. if the noise is not there then the noise is coming from your computer. if the noise is there then the noise is coming from your rcas. Re run them...power down one side, rcas down the other side of the car. Keep them far apart so that no electricity get introduced into your rcas

I have an Audigy 2 NX and a Kicker 5 channel amp. The reason your not getting sound
to the center and sub is because you need to check the box "bass redirection"
and set the crossover point you want the bass to drop out to the sub at.
You also have to turn on CMSS stereo upmix to get a normal stereo signal
    to output over all channels...

And I also have my wave volume turned all the way up and the gain set low
on the amp which gives me a nice clean sound because I'm not boosting the
pc output alot and any noise that is on that line.

Pics attached for clarity... hope that helps!

My bass-redirection checkbox is greyed out on mine (Audigy 2 NS notebook PCMCIA card). I've got the speaker settings set to 4.1 (my car amp only takes 4 inputs, front left/front right/rear left/rear right). Any idea how these settings get to be available to be checked?

You have to set it up for a 5.1 setup if you are running four speakers and a sub
