    running power cables and such...

    Hi everyone,

    just had a quick question:

    I know I'm supposed to run my power on the opposite side of the car from any signal cables(ie, RCA, VGA cables). But which side do I run the speaker wire?

    Same side as your signal wires usually but it doesn't matter nearly as much. You can run them down the side you need to get to your speaker. The reason you run the signal and power down opposite sides is to keep the noise from getting into the signal wire and then getting amplified

    sfay93- Couldnt you try to shield them? Seems like more hassle tho.

    I would keep them seperated like you are. I would also run the speaker wire opposite of the power wires, but I dont think it really matters as much.

    I just finished my carputer, and I put ALL the cables on the same side (VGA, power, USB, sound ...) in my Golf V and I have NO porblems at all.
    A car technician told me the quality of the wires is far more important! So i bought good quality power and audio cables, and I have no noise issue and the sound is great.

    Most SQ fanatics run it down the middle, away from both power and RCA cables. Bung it down with the RCAs and it'll be fine

    ya, quality makes a difference in some cases. Not necessary for USB and such. Video somewhat important, and really important on sound cables. they bring in noise like nothing else. Good noice cancellation cable set is a worlds difference, and I can testify it cause I went from a lot of interference to nothing all meantime the sound cable running right next to power cable.
