    Low-profile powered subwoofer

Was flipping through the latest Crutchfield catalog supplement and I found this: http://www.clarion.com/usa/product/i...product=SRV303

Catalog lists it as 13"W x 2 7/8"H x 9 1/16"D, just about the perfect size to slip under a driver or passenger seat (since my car computer and amateur radio gear is taking enough trunk space already, this would be quite nifty )

7" is a mid bass driver, not really subwoofer potential. If you want subs look for shallow subs, like Memphis MC class subs or JL w3 or w1, bazooka might be a good choice also.

Yeah, it's certainly not ideal, won't give me thundering window-shattering license-plate-rattling bass, but that's not what I want Just looking for something to pick up the low-end, the Kenwood KFC-1679ie speakers I got have great mid/high response, but absolutely nothing in the low range. Just need a bit of supplemental response from around 20-80Hz.

If you have the room, go for an Infinity Basslink. They have a built-in 200watt amplifier and are slick. The unit is not low-profile, but it has 2 10's and rocks.

Also, don't forget more airspace in your sub box = more bass. Whoever said that was a mid-bass driver, is absolutly right.

I've heard one of those one time. Big dissapointment I have to say. For that price you could get a small 2x60W amp, bridge it and you get a 1x120W, a small MDF box with a 10" sub in it. You could even mount the amp on top of the sub enclosure... Very little space, much more bass than a Basslink...
