    XM Coverage area

Just a quick question, does anybody know if Toronto Canada is close enough to the border to get the XM signals? I'm looking at moving up there in about 6 months, and trying to plan out some of the details of my move.

Yes, I've driven all around Canada near the boarder with the US. It works fine in open areas. Within cities it will cut out more because there aren't any ground based repeaters like you would find in the US. Also wont’ work as well because of the angle Canada is further away from the satellites which are in orbit over the US.

    Actually.....

They (Rock and Roll) are in orbit over the EQUATOR. The farther North you get, the lower the geosync satellites appear on the horizon. Line of sight is very important at these frequencies so a group of trees to the south could be enough of a hindrance to lose signal.

So, the short answer, it ought to work most of the time but you will get more dropouts than if you were in the states.

    Techy101,

My inlaws live in Toronto and it works great driving from Boston to Toronto. Occasionally lose signal near the larger buildings but overall it works like a champ.

What about as far north as Calgary, Alberta? What about Sirus?

    Thanks for the info..
