Anyone know A LOT about amps?

I turned over my mtx thunder 250D and took off the back cover, it looks like some of the capacitators may have blown, there is all that crap that are in them, scattered throughout the amp.
I was wondering, could I just try and replace them, or should I try and send it into a pro, and if so, what is a good place, that don't charge the **** out of you.
I just bought this off someone, I haven't hooked it up yet, but I am pretty sure it will not work, I bought it for really cheap though.

by some new caps,,, it is easy to change since they are huge on amps. i change caps all the time in PC motherboard and the one i mess with are like 20 smaller than the one you deal with but i still manage to replace them fairly easily. here's a link for the best capacitor i know off that can work up to 125C and have a lice cycle but have been tested to be guaranteed 50,000 hours at 85C

I highly suggest that you talk to the person that sold you this, and make sure that they realize it was sold to you like this. And if you can't fix it without paying big bucks, you want your money back.

If that already happened to the amp, maybe something is faulty in it that you can't fix. If you replace the caps, the same thing may happen again. That's my suggestion at least.

i've got a mtx thunder 404, and its been working for a couple of years just fine. however thats not on the high end mtx stuff, maybe the more expensive stuff is more prone to problems
CarPC install is starting to come along again...

I'm not gonna take the amp back or any of that, I posted here to find out if it is fixable or not.

In my experience amp caps this big go because of another problem on the board. A lot of times it is because the output ohm load was too low and the amp finals blow.(thatís the final stage of amp transistors) look around on the board to see if the is any tar looking material close to the transistors. if so there more to repair that just the caps.

They are always fixable. The question is will it cost as much as a new one with a warranty.

Really the only way to know is have someone look it over.
