With the huge movement to htpc, I'd think someone would build a sound processor that truly takes advantage of PC based control.
I agree... How can there be such a lack in advancement in sound on a pc.
Seems like Creative won the big audio war and then just left us all hanging...
And their drivers are like crap anymore on top of it...

Also, from any article you read, discreet audio solutions are going away...
Since cpu's are so powerful anymore, they are going to start doing all the
audio processing internal. Nvidia dropped their praised Nforce audio solution for the
exact reason. I'm curious what Creative will do to stay alive... I wish they
had a big competitor like Nvidia & ATI to force them to make better products.

    Oh well.. that's my rant

If you don't like their drivers and you have one of the supported cards, use the kXProject drivers

That has been said many times, but if you quickly read their site, any usb creative product
is not supported by their drivers.

I know. That's why you don't go with their USB products.

Yea, I'm very interested in that... Red GTi is the only person I've seen around here
that has it, and she doesn't have it hooked up in a way for us to verify it upmixes
    the input...

I thought it should work since it's more "integrated" into the pc.. but who knows..

I guess I don't truly have to worry about it till they start selling the am/fm/rds radio's or
    I sign up for XM

To make this thread go full circle, doesn't the R5.1MT phoenix take a 2 channel input and use dolby pro logic to mix it into 5.1? That works perfect the input of the XMpcr or DirectXM unit and the carputer. Or, bring in the XM radio, use the AC3filter program to have it output that as 5.1 dolby through the S/PDIF port on the EPIA.

Ah.. I wasn't talking about those drivers, just the fact that the PCMCIA audigy
would work more like it should...

I believe the audigy nx just doesn't work cause it just doesn't ever bring
the input into the pc over the usb lines... keeps it all internal
and the decoding is done in the pc, not the box... so u get screwed.

That's why I searched for a "time shifting" type proggy or dsp software...
Cause if u record off the line in and play it works perfectly cause u got the pc involved.

So if something would read the line-in... process it "with nothing"... and output
then the audigy drivers would kick in and apply CMSS to it.

But I have found nothing! Programmers unite... make it happen

Tried using the line in built into the lappy, but it seems the audigy drivers defunct that... couldn't get it to work.
