VIA M10000 on-board audio input problem

Looked everywhere for a solution (including VIA Arena), no luck, so:

The on-board audio inputs on my M10000 are not working, and I need to make this happen (cannot use Extigy for audio input for my application). I have looked at ALL of the settings, confirmed that my microhpone is working fine, but still no joy. Smart 5.1 is not enabled and audio output is working fine. I am using the latest driver from the VIA website (Vinyl AC '97).
Anyone know how to fix this?

inputs? so you are putting soud INTO your computer from a source outside of it? like XM or something along those lines? Or are you talking about the audio OUTPUT to send the signal out to your system?

Thanks for the reply. *Input*. I am trying to use the input on the on-board audio for a microphone. It's not working. I'm just looking for someone that knows that there's works fine on a M10000 so I can find out what driver, etc.

I use an Extigy with upmixing for output to my system. XM is optical into Extigy. That's all working fine. I unfortunately can't use the input on the Extigy for a microphone, so I need to use the onboard audio.

Mine works fine for input as long as it's not set to Smart5.1/Magic5.1 and the Mic volume isn't muted in the volume control app.

    Maybe a bad board?

You might also want to check the BIOS.. I'm not 100% sure, but I thought I saw something in there regarding the whole magic sound crap the board comes with.

When using the input on the Extigy, does the carpc have to be on to work??? Meaning would the 5.1 output work to an amp if the carpc is not on ?

    thanks

Thanks, checked BIOS, no luck there. Most likely a driver issue, would you mind confirming with me which driver you have installed? I know everyone is running these boards but you're the only one who replied with these details. I have the most recent VIA driver, I can always reinstall. Appreciate the help.

I believe all of the audio computation for the Extigy is handled by the board, not by any software. So it should 'pass through' audio from the Extigy inputs. Yup, just connected a PDA to the 'Line in' on the Extigy, disconnected the USB port to the computer, sound comes out of the Extigy.
