    Digital Output - Amps?

My shuttle has Analog and Digital 6-channel audio...It gives Dolby Digital, Dolby PRO LOGIC ll, and DTS decoding...which Is absolutely amazing since I have only experienced DTS in movie theaters, and now I have it on my pc.

But how do I go from the Digital SPDIF output to the amps? I was going to go with a digital amp...but every digital amp I have found is discontinued. Do I need to get some Digital-to-analog processor or somethin?

I think you have to send the signal to some sort of processor/eq so the output level going into the amp gets increased from the low level of the computer. I'm using an Audiobahn ADD51T 5.1 surround sound processor that will be fed with SPDIF from the computer, then sent to the amp via RCAs. Plus I get a great rotary knob for volume.

Hmm really....got a picture of it?

Now I'm wondering what would be better to use...the SoundStorm software for my onboard Digital Sound Card...or just uninstall all the audio software and install the soundcard with just the drivers and have everything go through a sound processor like that.

Home theater amp inside of a car? That ruins the meaning of running these small computer systems, to have a huge *** home amp.

That's a website with info & pics. I found one on Ebay for $299 (a great price) and the seller seems to have a reputable biz going. I haven't rec'd it yet. When I do I'll post my own pics.

you will need a D/A converter (digital to analog). I would recommend using a usb sound blaster device because of the ease of use and the fact that there is no hum if you power it with the computers psu.

AHAHAHA....Lawrence...the reason I have a high end computer for a carputer, is to stay away from that.

lcaruca97, I have no hum on my system. Just for your info, this onboard sound isn't a cheap setup like whats on the mini itx boards. Its powered by nVidia's nForce Chipset.

and I'm sure with a Sound Processor I wont have any sound at all except for whats supposed to go out.

ChaCha, That is amazing. I love it.
