How to secure a subwoofer enclosure?

I picked up a pre-fabricated subwoofer enclosure to hold me until I have the time, money, and resources to custom build something for my 2000 Ford Mustang. What's the best way to secure this thing so that it doesn't bounce around all over the place? The Mustang's trunk floor isn't sold. It's a thin piece of plywood covered by carpet and it rests on top of the spare tire. There are a few places where I may be able to attach a bracket or something to the sub, or maybe screw in nylon earthquake straps or something similar. Any suggestions?

velcro tends to work well if you have enough of it

Velcro is a good idea. I used to have this problem with the subs sliding around until I just had so much stuff in my trunk that I make an arrangement that would allow nothing to move (it's tricky). The little wood board with carpeting over it sucks, don't drill into it, it wont work.

One thing I did do, was at the home depot they have these little corner brackets, and they fit over a square corner, so you drill them into your car, put the subs in the brackets and it wont move.

back strap and screws.....same idea as the corner brackets.....

velcro won't do much if you drive in any aggressive fashion ever....not to mention that if the weight of your sub/box combo is a decent amount, velcro wont do much either

dont underestimate the power of velcro, have u seen the things where you get in a velcro suit and trampoline yourself against a wall. If it can be securely fixed (mines bolted right through the car) i guess thats better, i still like velcro tho

yes - I've seen/done the wole velcro suit thing....but the thing is....how do you secure the velcro to your carpet? if you can't then what good does it do you? you can't just stick it on the carpet....many times that velcro is stronger than the glue that's on the backing...

yeah it only works if you have carpet that is like loop velcro, then you can cover the bottom of the box with the hook type velcro

the non fuzzy side of velcro can stick to the carpet of your trunk usually (well, the carpet in my trunk at least).

So just put the "loop" side of the velcro onto the sub enclosure... and throw it into the trunk. Of course test whether the loop side will indeed stick to the trunk's carpet first.

edit: left this thread window open way too long so that Nic responded while the last post I saw was from red gti. So yeah, just listen to what nic said.

thats what I use to keep mine from moving around, the hook side of the velcro, granted I only have a single 10" box but it hasnt moved yet.

Velco is not permanent, which is good because it's easy to remove, but it's also bad because it's easy to remove (if you can take it out without a screwdriver, so can a car theif)
