Extending Din plug on Headunit?

I'm a bit ****ed off right now so i'll to make it readable.....

I took the day off work to get cables installed in my car and my Headunit relocated to under my seat for the LCD screen to go in its place.

I had this shop install this all and i took the day off with no pay and i dropped it off at 8:30am

Didn't get a call or anything so at 4pm I rang up asking how it was going and they dickheads didn't even start

They said that cause the HEADUNIT uses a Din plug for the amp and speakers that they couldnt extend it as extending wires from a DIN slot usually means the HU won't work or it will be very crappy quality.

Then the bastards tried to tell me that they called my at 10pm to say that they couldnt do it but it went to my voicemail which is full of ****....

My phone has voice mail disconnected it hasn't been setup my phone just rings and rings even if im on a call so this really ****ed the **** out of me as these bastards SAID that they could do it and wasted a whole day of mine which i could of got payed for....

So I need to know can I extend the Din plug and will it sound crap or possibly not work at all if extended?

I don't see how extending it will screw it up I personally think these guys didn't want to spend the amount of time it would take to RELOCATE it....

Surely they can just rewire the DIN socket??? or splice the cables coming from it??? I can't see it making much difference myself as it is only going to add say a metre to a cable which is already 2 metres long (If it goes to the rear that is)

Sounds to me like they are blagging their way out of it.

i dont know exactly what you mean by din plug, but i have a 99 escalade and i just plugged the connector on top of the plug behind the original radio extended power acc and ground and pos n neg for 4 speakers along wit remote wire. i extended it to the armrest where my stock cd changer was and my sound quality is awesome! it makes no difference. these guys bull****ted you sorry to say. oh yeah i extended the antenna also with an antenna extension. think of it like this. most flip out tv radios people use have a different brainbox that all the wiring runs into and alot of people either put it under the seats or in the trunk. this is your same case. i think you should go back and ***** and make them install it for free for being lazy asses! lol

Dude, i feel for you. I tookthe day off to waiti for a part to put my car back together and when they came at 2pm it was the wrong one and the guys told me to bring in to match it up - my car has three wheels and the place is 40 minutes up the motorway! Cocks! Ended up going over to a breakers the other side of bristol where they had just got a car like mine in and they took it off the car for me. And today i take another day off and it rains and is blowing a gale!

As for your din plug...if it is a standard plug then go down your local electronics place and get some and some good quality cable and make an extension up.

But the plugs don't look like the plug on my stock radio.

The plug was a square L shape adapter and he said it was a din plug altho he could of been talking **** again.....

Best I can show you it doesn't help tho

There the 2 plugs i must extend the first plug is what they said i couldnt extend

I've been searching for that plug and i can't find it anywhere

have you tried this website called installer.com? it has a bunch of harnesses and wiring for cars. take a look at it maybe it can help you
