Experiment for position, will be best to use straps to tie it down.
A co-worker gave me one of these for my carputer project.. what's the best way for me to mount in in the trunk.. eg. which direction do I want to point which end, where do I want to place it in the trunk, and what's the best way to keep it from shifting around?

is the sub box sealed? if it is, then there is no matter of where it is facing. if it is open ended, just point the open end into what ever freespace you have in your trunk
The speaker is behind the grill you see in the foreground. The other end is sealed, and is also where you connect the wires.

What kind of car do you have? Is it a Sedan or Hatchback?
We have an BTA10200 in our car and it Rocks. The instructions say to put it in the rear right corner of the trunk, with the woofer/port pointing toward the back of the car.
Here's a link to the instructions:

it all depends on how you like your bass to sound....first and foremost, you aren't going to get very good sound out of a Bazooka, period. But for some people, it's perfectly fine. Go with what ALonDonThinG said, you will just have to test different positions. It will depend on yoru music tastes, your car configuration, etc as to where you end up liking it the best. As for how to secure it, Bazooka tubes use to come with straps for tie down...you shoul dbe able to go to most audio shop that sells them and either get a set for free of pay a few bucks and get a set.

Werd. I realize that that lil 7" speaker isn't gonna blow the doors off the car, but then again, it was $free$, so I'm not gonna complain. =)
Thanks for the info. I listen to everything, really.. I'll play around with situating it in the trunk when I get my car back, and in the meantime I'll look into getting some straps to fasten it in place.

I have heard bass is at its best 8 feet away, but not sure on how true that is. What I do know is you want it as far back in your trunk as you can to prevent cancelation. If you have it say in the middle of your trunk, then half of the sound travels to the back of the trunk and the other half goes up to you, then bounces off the windshield, and wherever the 2 reflections meet, their is the least sound due to cancelation. So if you have it as far back as you can, you are usually safe.

Edit: And yeah, for free, its hard to pass anything up, but I have never heard anything good about the Bazooka tubes. Still though, it will add bass, so may as well put it in!
I think most Bazookas are ported (not sealed). If you have the one in the picture it's ported.
This is true in a situation like home theatre, in a car however, you have too many things that will get in the way of that traveling waveI have heard bass is at its best 8 feet away, but not sure on how true that is.
it's going in a trunk, it's not like there will be that much of a difference in distnace when talking about mose trunks. What I do know is you want it as far back in your trunk as you can to prevent cancelation.
one thing that some have had tried and had good experience with. If you will place the tube with the speaker firing into a corner, placed about as far away from the corner as the diamater of the speaker. Apparently a lot of people have had good luck with this set-up....=]
this is generally true, just in a car it's not much of an issue, unless you are talking about a suburban or the like...=]If you have it say in the middle of your trunk, then half of the sound travels to the back of the trunk and the other half goes up to you, then bounces off the windshield, and wherever the 2 reflections meet, their is the least sound due to cancelation. I'll agree here. I would take it and sell it and use the money for something better...lolEdit: And yeah, for free, its hard to pass anything up, but I have never heard anything good about the Bazooka tubes. Still though, it will add bass, so may as well put it in!
but that's just me, =]
