the class that you will be competing in is geared for people like you. The people who have a system in your car, are out driving around and see a show going on. You are interested and what to see what it's all about and go in and pay your few bucks and have the judge tell you what they think.
Some people get all ****y after being judged (mostly people who have no idea what really goes into true SQ) and call SQ stupid...because the judge slams them and their system....but all that judge is doing is giving you pointers on how to make your system better.
Thats the whole idea to see what the system has, rignt now im not to serius i just want to do it for fun as i said above.

The Reference from Infinity is the bottom of the rung as far as their speakers go. If you aren't willing to spend any more money I would seriously consider getting into competition. Once I get teh berylliums, my front stage alone will cost close to $800 for the K2Ps and around $1600 for the berylliums.....
Well since i just finished the install im not going to rip it all out and get all new speakers, If i end up getting anywhere i will upgrade weather or not im sponsored.

On a sponsorship, i really don't want to come across harsh, but you will be needing to get WAY more into competing if you want to try and get a sponsorship. Coming from someone who s sponsored I will tell you this in all honnesty. Companies look for a few things when they are looking to sponsor someone.

1.) Is this person serious about competing, and competing for a while, not just a few shows, and not just for a year.
I know it takes time. But i just have to start some where so after i get going ill send them a letter. The most they can do is say no.

2.) Has this person already spent the money that is required to be successful? These companies don't want to just hand out free equipment to someone who doesn't have the money to even go to shows. they don't want to give someone their most expensive line of speakers if they won't know what to do with them. Most people out there honnestly don't believe that there is a difference between the Reference and the Perfects....
I dont expect them to hand over free equiptment, possibly a discount.
originaly when i built the system this time was just to get great sound, so thats why i chose the reference, if i get more into the competing scene i will have to upgrade most likely.

3.) Will you represent the company well? (I'm NOT saying this is you, I'm just saying what they look at) In the car audio world the average age of the consumers is 24, and male....us females are rather rare (something that I really hope to see change). 24 year old males, on the whole, are full of spit and fire and are ready to go off on the first person to question them. The companies DON'T want to sponsor that guy who is going to show up to the shows drunk, high, and ready to fight, then drive off and get a DWI while they have their product in their car, he brags about being sponsored by them, and has a bunch of their stickers on his car......as he gets pulled over for a DWI....or the guy that posts on the forums doing nothing but talking ****...

this is an EXTREME example, but I just wanted to get my point across

    =]
As for that im only 18 so i wont be drinking and dont plan on it, never used drugs and arent planning on it. dont smoke.

but i understand what you are saying. I already have their logos on my car just becasue i support them, but i dont say im sponsored.

cool - again, I wasn't saying that was any of you, just letting you know from my experience what they tend to look for....it makes it a lot easier to know what they look for, so you don't go barking up the wrong tree

just be prepared....if you get into this....it will become addicting, and you will no longer have ANY money...lol

webdog, ID is down in LA and they are trying to get an iasca show started every month. I dont know when the next one is, but itll be soon (next couple months, not next couple weeks.)

the competitors are very friendly, and I've noticed people love to talk about themselves. feel free to just walk up to any of them, especailly ones with the non-super amazing looking installs and ask for a demo (make sur eyou get to listne from the drivers seat, too). let them know you are trying to learn how to tune, and ask for some of the first basic things they do to start their tuning process (you may discover it happens a the start of the build phase!)

you can walk literally from car to car if you want, and youll see some neat concepts played out, from the mustang with the 8's molded into his floor firing straight up to those running horns, to trucks covered entirely in suede on the insides. there are no limits!

look for a black 2 door civic this summer. He will be taking last place in his class all season ;p

oop, almost forgot. keep the name leon in the back of your mind, and keep an eye out for his white integra. youll know it by the "I installed the tweets by putting them on towels on the floor" install. he never competes, and his car sounds better than every car in the circuit, every time. blows me away.
