on blowchunks......
sorry
blaupunk
I don't like their stuff at all....and no, they aren't just in Australia...
as for everyone else in here telling you that this or that sub hit hard...
it goes WAY beyond the sub, which is what I said earlier..
power and air space have a HELL of a lot to do with it
you can get the baddest sub, underpower it, and put it in the smallest box possible, and it won't be loud at all
IMO - telling someone "This sub ROCKED!" means nothing! absolutely nothing!
what amp? how much air space? sealed or ported? box design? etc.
When you get into the world of SPL box design has A LOT to do with output.
the JLs are good subs, no doubt about that. I'm running 2 12w6v2s in my GTi with roughly 1050watts, in a selaed box with about 2 cu. ft. of air space. it hit a 141.X db. for most people this would be plenty, unless you are competing.
BUT!!!! and don't forget to read this...
a car can sound really loud, but meter really low. So the Civic that was mentioned above could be one of the loudest cars you had heard, but it might only meeter a 130....for a few different reasons

ok with the formula you gave me, i tried this amp:
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...etailComponent
600watts = 6.5v x 60Watts x efficiency
so 153% efficient, is that possible?
i like the amp, $300AU, and its only going to be running front and rear speakers, so what do you think? if anyone has a better alternative please tell me!
thanks
Why oh WHY do people insist on running amped rear speakers?
Personally, I highly reccomend running stock rears of deck power at most, and getting a nice 2ch amp and a ncie set of components for upfront, or even bridging a 4channel. to 3ch for upfront. If this is the only amp you'll be running, then get a 4ch, but bridge the 2rear channels to a sub. somethign simple, a fairly efficient 10 would do wonders.

Because the perception is that if you dont have rears, you cant get good ambient sound in the back. Which is rubbish, but most people prefer to pay extra than just do things right in the first place when it comes to the install![]()
where are you getting 6.5 v?Originally Posted by Alex121
and it should be 60 amps, not wattage, and where did you get that 60 amp number? I don't see it mentioned on their page just glancing over it....
so you are looking at
600watts (MAX power mind you) = 12.5v x amperage x 75% efficiency
= ~ 64 amp fuse....
as long as it's brand name - you can't go too wrong IMO - especially for someone like yourself who is just interested in a little extra bump, nothing too crazy

because most people honnestly fill that they must fill every single speaker hole with another speaker...because they don't know any better.Originally Posted by poseur
as for this guy - I don't think he's got the money to buy a nice set of front components, as is the case with a LOT of people on here...
most of the people on this board aren't interested in spending a grand on their car stereo, because it's not as important to them as say....a house payment? food for their kids? college tuition? etc....

Oh, I know, just rhetorical I spose..
I deal with it daily, and generally I just giveup and let it be. If that's the way they want it, sobeit, some ppl can't be changed.
Thing that gets me isthat the money ppl spend on a 4channel amp and 2 pairs of speakers "that have lots of watts" you could get ahold of some atleast halfway decent components and a decent 2ch amp.
At anyrate, if there's Anyone on here in the US, in the Washington area who would like to hear a halfway-decently setup frount-heavy soundstage, Feel free to hit me up. I'm no contest-winning superstar, I do things simply for my own enjoyment, but I've come a decent way in training my ears, and attempting to make my car please them.
