    GM Factory AUX

So i have a 2001 pontiac sunfire with a factory upgraded radio. It is a pretty good unit and I'd like to keep it in my carpc setup. This headunit supports an "AUX" port. I assume it is designed for CD changers. I have found 2 products that i think will work. I have my Headunit in my room and it has a 12 pin connector, so i know it is a GM12 or a GM12-AUX. Apparently there is a big difference in that little AUX

The first costs about 6 bucks... does anyone know if i can use this with my class II - RDS system in my car.
    1st one (GM12): http://store.yahoo.com/efunctional/pacabgm12.html
If I can make this one work, I'd love to buy it

The second one is 10 times the cost, and I can see the RCA inputs, i know i could make this one work for sure.
    here is the 2nd one(gm12-AUX): http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=446

Does anyone know anything about this, Maybe my GM dealer will help me out, but i doubt it. What about stores like best buy that do "free installation" with the purchase of a head unit, would they sell me the parts i need, or would they tell me which one i can use.

I need any help i can get

i have a 99 escalade and i have a factory tape player..slave cd player and cd changer all through factory headunit..everything is gm..i bought the aux input and what it does is you plug it into your headunit and than whatever was in your headunit into the aux box. mine has 2 inputs..it has a little switch included so i can pic between my aux1 input aux2 input and my stock cd player/changer..its pretty cool but i upgraded to a pioneer headunit with an aux input...its much easier!

    what about this?:
    http://www.cybergiftcenter.com/appli...2&mpn=AAI-GM12

it says: "In order to work, slave unit must continuously be playing or if XM Satellite Radio® or DVD, must be on " I don't understand crappy english, but does this mean that i must have my factory head unit on for this to function.

If not, what does it mean by "slave unit must be continuously be playing"

I hope this $35 solution works, My local pontiac dealer knew nothing

That one means that you need to have the xm or cd changer option. If you didnt pay for those options then you cant use that.

thank you n8scstm, i hate what you are telling me but I appreciate the fact that you are helping with this stuff. I don't want to spend this much on this part but it looks like I have no choice.

    how about this one?
    http://www.cybergiftcenter.com/appli...&mpn=AOEM-GM24
My headunit has two plugs in the back one is 2X12 pins and the other is 2X6 pins. When i got my car ther 2X6 pin plug was empty, and the wiring harness from the car was plugged into the 2X12 plug, I assumed that if i was going to add anything into the headunit i'd have to use the 2X6 plug.
But the link i just put up might allow me to hookup through the 2X12 plug and leave my radio intact?
    n8? any advice

    I should supply photos

No photos neceasary. I have a similar radio. It's the older 9 pin aux, but I know what you mean. They sure are vauge on their descriptions huh? I'm not really sure about that one. I think you're just gonna have to call them. I think if that one works, it will utilize a remote aux button rather than the one that is already on your stereo.
