    Audigy2 NX popping noises???

Im not too sure why when the volume is turned above say.. 80% or so, my speakers start crackling... could this be clipping? i remember that my system before was alot louder than it is now.

when you say "i remember that my system before was alot louder than it is now."

What do you mean by "before"

Do you mean before you used the audigy2 NX and used onboard or some other pci sound?

Also check to make sure there's no preamp or equalizer settings enabled in software or hardware (if audigy2nx supports hardware equalizer... i know just about nothing about it).

    Good luck.

actually i had a indash flip out dvd/tv.. attached to an audiocontrol 6xs crossover , then that went into my balanced line drivers. though this setup took 20/40 clicks to get somewhere in the somewhat loud region, the audigy can pick up the same loudness at like 20% volume out of 100%... however the max before clipping on my in dash was around 38 clicks. but i had my gains set so the max volume would be reached around 30 clicks. and that was extremely loud, loud enough to make my windshield wipers move back and forth about an inch, and no popping noises there...

id say at around 100% volume on the audigy is like 22clicks on the HU but this causes crackling/distortion. though i got rid of the audiocontrol cause it kept making stupid alternator whine and i had no place to put it after the carputer install.

Hmm.. maybe you have your gains set too high on your amp....

On my setup, I have the wave turned all the way up and adjust the system volume by master...
I set the master volume at 75% with the amp gains all the way down... then I slowly turned up
each channel till the speakers were as loud as they could be yet clear...
then I tweaked them back just a tad... worked great...
I can drive around with 2% volume to talk over and around 40 to 50% is slammin.. with high 70%'s just overly loud
..heh... (if something can ever be TOO loud)

you need to readjust the gain setting. look and see if there is a target voltige for your amp. if not use an ocilloscope, any way other way is hit or miss.

so pretty much youre saying i should match the gains for each device.. perhaps its my balanced line drivers thats causing the distortion...

anyone know where i can "borrow" an ocilloscope?

    that's most definately distortion

have you matched everything? have you matched your gains on your amp? have you matched your volume settings in your computer?

I don't see the sound card as being the main problem here....

you can use a 1khZ tone at 0 db to test this....put that in and play it, turn it up most of the way and go around and tune, you will hear the differnce once you start to have distortion, it's a slight difference, but it is noticeable

    Hiya Red

I am hoping you got that "tone" in a downloadable format PLEASE !
or email, I am sure we all could use something like that for tuning and setup purposes.

    Cheers
