Headphone Output to RCA Line from Amp

Is it posible to connect the headphone out from my laptop straight to the rca-in from my amp? Is the sound voltage/ level not too hard? Or could be any damage?

Anyone know what kind of voltage we should see out of these direct connections? I've got an Audigy 2 hooked up direct to an amp (benchtop testing with 12v power supply) and with the gains ALL the way down, I still have to run the PC volume control down in the 15-20% range for regular listening!

Well, it is a 70 watt per channel amp and I'm driving a set of Image Dynamics CD2 horns with it... 108 db @ 1W efficiency. And my desk is a lot quieter environment than my car. So I reckon it should be a bit on the loud side.
