Quick Newb question for Pioneer DEH-P80MP

This Pioneer DEH-P80MP is going to be a new HU I'm putting in my 2002 Grand Prix. My question is I know I need the PAC OS1 Onstar/Bose harness. But to get my steering wheel controls to work can I hook up the SWI-X with it?

Has anybody tried or done this? I have found nothing on the net that says yes or no. The guy at AUTOTOYS said no. But I thought I would post it here to see if you knowledgable folks knew.

You can get something to convert the steering wheel controls to an infrared remote control signal. I think thats as good as it can be done. Not really sure what its called, but thats what you would be looking for. Just have to place an ifrared transmitter somewhere where the reciever can see it.

God_of_CPU did this for his setup, I believe.
Search for it and you can see how he pulled it off.

Did the search and nothin. Everybody is talking about using the SwI-X to hook up computers, MP3 devices and everything else. I guess I'll just do the old "buy it and try it, if don't work return it".
