I may be mistaken but I thought faceplates were almost as expensive as the headunit itself, to reduce criminals stealing decks without faceplates and then just replacing the faceplate...
I have an older DEH-P740MP headunit. I want to do some mods to the faceplate but in fear of messing it up I want to get a replacement one just in case. Wondering if anyone has attemped changing faceplate to another version (say using a faceplate from a newer version of the same model or maybe even from another model) to see if it works. And if all that doesn't work, where could I order a replacement faceplate for it?
Thanks.

how good at electronics are you? i found my pioneer p3500 is interchangable with a slightly older model... but i checked the signals with an o-scope on the pins of the HU to see if they were the same signal on the same pin for both...they were very similar models though, i think my friends was a p3000...i prolly wouldnt recommend it...
I had a perfect quote to go here,
but hell only knows what I did with it....
that was pretty much what I heard from other people and that actually makes sense. Not in this case of course...Originally Posted by Bobby Digital
actually sounds like a good idea. Although I never did anything like that, I have a friend who's pretty good with this stuff so I might try it out (with another model thou)Originally Posted by linuxguy
