So how is it working out? Is the amp worth the hassle? Is there a way to get this amp with out the hassle?

I was only told 2 days ago of millionbuy.com sending me the IR equipment. I just recieved the email notice yesterday that it's on it's way from California. It took 10 days via UPS for the amp to get to me so I would say the same amount of time before I get the IR stuff. After which I'll be able to bench test it and then be able to render some sort of feedback. There's no guarantee that this won't happen again provided that all the right questions are asked at the time of ordering so that the amp leaves their warehouse complete.

Gio from millionbuy.com just called tonight and said they tracked down a new IR remote control and reciever and will be shipping it out right away. Apparently, they sourced it from Hifonics since the Zeus 5.1 amp is identical to the ICBM 5.1 and so is the remote equipment. Perhaps me telling them to contact Hifonics about this similarity of the remotes was all that was needed. So there we go, a potential option for those of us still in a quandry into solving the missing IR remote parts. Since it's impossible to contact Performance Teknique directly, contacting Hifonics may be the better solution. Having a contact in So Cal that could personally pay them a visit would be the optimum solution in my mind. Anyway, there's options out there now.
    Good luck
I've tried contacting Hifonics for the remoter control and the IR reciever and I was told that they don't have it since its an old model. So I lost my hope in finding the accessories for my ICBM5.1. I've tried multiple sources but no luck there too. If anyone is able to locate the IR equipment, please let us know!

I have an alternate solution in the works. I'll let you know how it pans out. It may work out better than having the remote, but it might be a little while before I have any news.

You still need the IR reciever right? Are you going to link it to the carputer? If you can get the IR codes for the remote, I will try to integrate it into StreetDeck software.

Actually, I am talking to someone who is writing a program that will allow you to use the printer port of your Mobo to send IR pulses to the IR input of the amp. No remote or reciever necessary and completely controlled from the comp. He is working on it though and is not sure if he can do it so I didnt want to get anyones hopes up until it was finished.

Don't you still need the remote to find out how to code the particular pulse train going to the IR input on the amp? I mean, if one person gets the remote and has an IR decoder in their computer, fair enough, but how do you plan to do this without a sample of the IR signal from the remote, or a list of remote codes?

The person I have been in contact with has the remote. No worries there. I will say however that he is having some slight troubles, so it's not going to be happening right away

given that this is supposed to be used with car-based computers, wouldnt USB be a better option than parallel? i mean. if you still think parallel is a "necessary" port, you're probably still winding a crank to start your car.

in fact, maybe this or this would do the trick.
