    Who's got an Accord?

I want to get an idea of what sort of options I have for front speaker replacements. Anyone out there with an 98 - 02 (6th gen) Accord replaced their fronts? What did you do? I'm wondering if its a good idea to replace the tweets in the dash with new tweets from a component set or to just put coaxials in the doors and be done with it. Over all I'm happy with the imaging, I just think the stock quality sux.

(also, if you wanna say anything else about what you did to your Accord, I'd love to hear it!)

Replace the door speakers with the same size speakers. A component setup with woofers in the door and tweets in the stock location is the best way to go.

Agreed, also the easiest route. The door is pretty shallow so you may have to make spacer rings.

that's what I did. There are a lot of things you can do with an accord. you have to be more specific.

Also, for info on your accord go to www.6thgenaccord.com I am a member there and they have a lot of good info. that and www.v6performance.net

I would say components up front. I put 5.25" components in the rear, and I really like those so far, and I am just awaiting the front so those can go in as well

Kind of late for a reply but I got a set of CDT-CL61's. They are a 6.5" component set that are extremely worth the $160 they sell for. I got mine brand new for $130 on ebay so shop around. They are 90w RMS and 180w peak. Set comes with 2 mid range speaker, 2 3/4 inch tweeters that fit perfectly in the stock tweeter posistion near the windshield of the accords, and 2 crossovers. The accords' doors are pretty shallow so a speaker depth extender would be needed. Up to 3/4 of an inch can be extended and still have the door panels fit perfectly back on, although you will need to dremel/grind out the back of it where the speakers go. Its just this little strip of plastic that i guess fit the stock speakers snug up against the door panels, not a big deal. Hope that helps.

Never too late for a reply.

Over the Labor Day weekend I finally upgraded my door speakers. In the end I opted for the Polk Momo MMC6500 component set. They come with a 1/2 inch spacer ring and that is enough to fit in the woofers. The tweeters I cut into the door panel directly above the woofer locations. Also, there was a convenient pocket on the inside of the door for me to put the crossovers. In all it looks really good and the imaging is damn near perfect.

make sure you seal the area around your crossover, wouldn't want them to get wet.
