Sound from Carputer sometimes bad, from CD it's not?

change your RCA cables, cheap ones are just that, cheap. Dont buy $$$ RCAs, but try switching first, or twisting the connections, if that makes a noise,its the wires or the connectors.

Well the problem is I have to go from a LINE IN jack to RCA's. Do they make a high end cable like that? I have this coming from my head unit:

damn, yer head unit is an oldie eh? or at least el cheapo

sounds like anyone of the cables could be the culprit, jiggle and switch and see if it makes any sound.

Yes. It was elcheapo ($100). Why would I buy an uber expensive deck when I'm only using it for volume control (when you think about it).. This is the deck.

I didn't think it would have a lot to do w/ the SQ.

if you only have your HU for volume control, throw the ***** away.

Your carputer should be all you need, buy a soundcard.

No thanks. I'll keep it. I like having the option of listening to the radio or CD's as well..

um your carputer cant play CDs? Why not? You toss your drive? How do you load DVDs etc onto it?

radio... dont they have radio hookups for carputers....

Yes it can play CD's and yes it can play radio with additional hookups.

Can't you just accept the fact I like my head unit and thus want to keep it

!

Also, if this isn't the reason my stuff is sounding like jack then why are we talking about it?!

yes i tried my friends audigy fixed my problem, should fix yours, still sound not as great as connecting directly to amp. but its what i wanted, try another sound card, its the audigy 1 PCI actually they are pretty cheap you could prolly pick one up on ebay
