    Alpine Vers Clarion

Hey all, I'm torn between an alpine eq/dsp and pretty much the same damn thing from clarion. Both have the same features, same layout...And are almost the same price...But which brand is better?? Never used either...I'm a pioneer guy...Thanks for any help

I was about to flame you for pitting Clarion against Alpine without considering Pioneer. But you say you are a Pioneer guy, so I applaud you for that.

Pioneer makes the best all around HU, but when it comes to EQ, im clueless. I had a clarion years ago when my head unit only had stereo out and I wanted independent Sub control, and it sounded sweet, so thats my vote.

I know u didnt just say Pioneer is the best all around HU
You shouldent even use Pioneer and best in the same sentence
no but for real thay r a good starting HU but not good for compition type,Ive had nothing but problems with newer Pioneer stuff.

Not really...It all depends on what your looking for. Every brand out there has a use. I've always been a Sony fan becasue they have by far the best built in options. But that was in a standard cab truck. Anything larger and I think Sony lacks the clarity. Not to mention that their HU designs could use some work. For an suv sized Pioneer is a decent choise...Sounds pretty good and has a lot of accessories you can add on. AudioBaun...The only thing I have to say here is they LOOK awsome. Love the way their products look, but they are overrated and EXPENSIVE. Eclispe is the oposite. They are some of the best sounding hu's you can buy, but man are they ugly.

So I'm looking for a video unit, But it has to have nav and be a double din unit. So that leaves Pioneer and eclipse. I'm going with Pioneer because you can add more things to the system. I think the Eclipse AVn5495 looks real nice and stock, But the options are a little lacking and there are no accessories. Where as the AVIC D1 from pioneer is the same as thier newest fold out, just in a double din with a dedicated nav rom, just like the eclipse.

But in my opinion they both lack good tuning abilities, So thats why I'm looking for a good dsp/eq..(which sony has a kick *** one built into most of there nicer units)
Niether Sony nor Pioneer make good external dsp/eq's...Thus my current problem...These are what I'm looking at:

    Alpine:
    Processor...PXA-H701
    Controller..RUX-C701

    Clarion...
    Processor....DVH940
    Controller...DVC920

Right now I'm leaning twords the Alpine. It looks a little cleaner and from what I can read being both websites suck, It does a little more....Prices are pretty much the same...
