Have any of you read the reviews of the Sonic Impact T-Amp?
Crazy review
Soooo, I was thinking that for people that have subs, this might be the perfect amp for car speakers....as long as they are very sensitive.
I am having a hard time believing this review...and I am really tempted to order one from parts express or ecost.
Parts Express T-Amp link
Ecost 19.99 but sold out
These run off of 12 volts, so if you have a few amps on your 12v line, the computer power supply could power this crazy little amp.
I am thinking of buying two of these, and bi-amping my focal 165k2's. Each amp would have its own woofer and tweeter. The focal's have a 93db sensitivity, so the 9 watts of clear amplification(at 4 ohms).... You guys think it will be enough? Please save comment on 9 watts until you have read the reviews of this amp. Thanks guys(and girls)!

woah woah - u have focals and you are considering that amplifier to power them?
I have focals and no - don't you dare. The amp looks like it's a current driven amplifier that uses an ic chip. Not bad I guess, but I wouldn't say it's the best either. I'd compare it to the internal amplifier of a headunit.
But hey ...it doesn't hurt to play with those little bad boys - I'd buy one. Looks like an awesome amp for a center channel for 5.1 surround sound![]()

by the way RMJ, I think somewhere on this board there is a program that links your wav volume to your master volume....that way your steering wheel controls will work. I've been searching around for it but I can't find it anywhere.

Using one of those would be a great way to make an expensive pair of speakers paperweights. Without suficient power the voice coil will stall on your speakers and burn out the coil.
only if I am driving the speakers to the point of distortion... I have only heard of one account of someone *possibly* blowing speakers with this amp, and he had a defective one that arced. I have been doing searches for the past 18 mins on most of the forums that talk about these amps. There are many audiophiles that drive speakers with very low output amps. In the 6moon review he hooks them up to a >$15,000 dollar pair! Buy a set of Avantgarde Duo's

Exactly what I was thinking. I dont care how good of a review that gets, it just wouldnt be that good in a car. Especially trying to keep up with subs, or contending with driving with the windows down. And yes, I read the entire review.Originally Posted by rmjjensen
And I know, "but getting a 90 watt amp would only add 10 decibles", but their is the cheap way to do someting, and the right way. In a quiet car, this amp would probably be okay if you never had the windows down and had the sub turned down some too, but that would be about it.
Matt
Well I just placed an order for one from parts express. It will be fun to put in a new case/ new pot/ new wiring. I figure I'll play around with it and see how it does on my polk audio RTi70's, then try it out in the car.

I'm definitely looking forward to hearing your review on this amplifier. I feel that it is probably a rock solid amplifier, but I don't see it being a powerhouse in a small package.
I guess we shall find out how it does with the high effeciency focals.
Oh - and I'll have to do a search for that wave+master volume adjustment - that would be PERFECT. THANKS!
