no reason why it wouldnt work. many people (including myself) go this route. not only does this leave space open to put stuff, but it also opens up room to put your screen (if your HU is double-DIN)
Well I just got Sirius Starmate receiver and I'm putting the PC in really soon (next week) and it dawns on me, what do I even have a radio?
I'm thinking of getting a USB FM receiver and just plugging the carpc's lineout (or a better card in the laptop dock) and connecting it to the amp. That would open up the whole center console for me to put some other gizmos.
Any reason why this wouldn't work? Any ideas on how to do it? I've searched quite a bit here and it looks like many are doing it, I just couldn't find much on how.
Any comment on how to progress would be appreciated.

May I ask how? I'm a dumbie when it comes to car audio. Are they just line level inputs into most amps? What about front and rear?Originally Posted by Vchat20

I think it should be no trouble. I was thinking of doing the same thing. Except my car has 6-speakers stock. I figured if i get a 4-channel amp / or switch to component speakers with an amp. And use another 2-channel amp for the rear deck. With most motherboards today, they come with optional 6.1 surround sound. You could with 6 channels between the amps, take each line-out and split them into left and rights going into the amp. Now you have yourself 6-channel surround and i assume optional sub. It may get tricky with all the amps and running power but I think it may result in some nice sound.

Anyway, read all nine pages, so it looks like it should be possible. Still not much detail on the people running this particular setup.
I guess I'll have to pull out my seat and look at the amp to see what type of connections are on the amp. There definitely no aux-input or anything.
if you have a factory amp in your vehicle, it should still be doable with a bit of work. more or less, you are going to have to go to a place such as installer.com and see if you can find an integration harness for your specific model.

My chrysler's shares almost everything with the mitsu eclipse. I've got to verify that the amp is the same, but I think this thread from last week has the adapter I'm looking for.Originally Posted by Vchat20
I have the MITAH adapter, round end on one side, 4 RCA wires and a power wire.

Well I gave metra a call. They told me I need a Metra Turbowire #70-1818 (CHRYSLER LOW-LEVEL AMP INTERGRATION HARNESS).
It's under $20 bucks. Hopefully it works out.
