to do this i would have to hook the positive to the negative terminal and the negative to the positive terminal correct?

yes, just as I said in my previous post. The two that are inverted need to have the polarity reversed so they are "pulling" while the sub that is mounted normal is pushing. Amp positive terminal to negative on the 2 inverted subs, amp negative terminal to positive on the 2 inverted subs, but NORMAL on the non-inverted sub (pos to pos, neg to neg).

What kind of 12's? That may be to many watts first off, second you may have to much air space, check your RCA's and check the gage wire you have. Check the amp itself. Check your wiring, how did you wire it?

Lol, nothing like digging a thread out from the grave. I sure hope the user sorted his issue out before now, 4 months later...

I like the ultimate stealth install and leave it in the garage when I go out anywhere. I installed my home gear in my neighbors house too...

Question I've thought abuout doing this, still unsure.

Okay, I have a 1970 VW Beetle. Right now I'm running just over 10,000 watts (peak) to 4 FUBAR 12's and 4 6x9's. Pictures of the car, speaker box, build etc can be seen here: http://www.photobucket.com/sweet70

This winter I'm planning on amping things up to around 24,000 watts (peak) via 4 12 inch MOFO subs, 4 10 inch MOFO subs, 4 to 6 6x9's, and 4-8 6.5's. My speaker box sounds incredible, and I'm already flexing windows out so I have no problem with having the subs mounted in the "standard" way, but the backsides of these speakers are as eye catching as the fronts and thought I could mix them up (some regular, some inverted) to show off both sides of the subs. And for the audiophiles out there the 4 12 will be pushed using 2 5500 watt class D amps at 1 ohm, and the 4 tens will be pushed with 2 4000 watt class D amps. Power is supplied from 2 3600 amp deep cycle comp batteries and a custom built 200 amp alternator. Not too shabby for an old VW Bug eh? If anybody has any input on this *please* post, or even better email me. I'm starting the install soon and could really use the help!!!

    Easy

An inverted subwoofer simpily amplifies the bass, Depending tho, if you have box thats sealed and has proper specs then itll make the bass louder, it does this by the fact that when u inver the sub ur taking a large amount of the sub out of theinside of the bos, this gives it more airspace, aloowing the bass to be louder, sometimes it may look wierd but with a little painting skills and clean up it can look great, i personaly am running two kicker l7 square cuts subs and 2 12 inch rf 12s that i inverted and painted the cvering and magnets, it looks great and matches the car, i highly recomend inverting ur subs if u have the time and skill to do it right, and the actual inverts simple, take the sub flip it and mount it, th only down fall is the wiring hanginong out witch u have to switch put the positive in the negative and the negative in the positive.
hope my speach of information helps
