    crossover question

ok all i have a simple question about croosovers i know if you are running just a set of tweeters on a amp you should put crossovers on them but what i am wondering is what would happen if you installed aset of crossovers on a set of non component 3way speakers?

If you are talking about a 3 way speaker....three speakers tied together with a single set of speaker terminals then adding a set of xovers will not do you much good. But using a highpass xover will.

A set of xovers is a several different xovers together to be used with several seperate speakers. If you are using a three way speaker there should already be a xover built into the speaker and it only has one set of speaker terminals. To be able to control all three speakers you need three sets of speaker terminals.

What you can do is use a high pass xover so that no frequencies too low make it to the speaker. You can do this with a passive xover or electronic.
