Although the JL subs have a reputation of being "mellow" and thus more suitable for a range of musical types, they are still very capable for bass driven music such as rap and drum and bass.Originally Posted by Nic

JL's are nice but pricey, ever consider Elemental designs http://edesignaudio.com/category.php?type=subs or Image dynamics http://www.cardomain.com/item/IDSIDQ12D4V2 Great subs for the money. The Image Dynamics IDQ series are great subs as I own a pair. Hit hard but also clean.

On the good but cheaper side you may also want to check out Resonant Engineering - particularily the XXX series: http://www.reaudio.com/html/Originally Posted by King Mendiola

Thanks for all the recommendations...I ended up buying 2 10" JL 10W3V2 with dual 4 ohm drivers. I am going to have another board member construct a box for the subs.

Good choice, the 10" JL subs are very sweet. Tighter and more responsive than the 12s so great in a pair!
When constructing the sub box refer to JLs site as there isa good guide therem, they dont react at all well to too much or not enough breathing room

Go for a pair of kicker 10" kicker solo barics. They hit really hard and sound sweet.
Not to jack my own thread, but I have another question about the audio side of things, I will also be installing a 4 channel amp (Alpine MRV-F345). This is a 75X4 amp and I wanted to know if it was recommended to bypass all the stock speaker wiring and run new wiring or if I should just connect onto the existing wiring for the new amp?

I would just rewire the whole car, but you could probably get away with the stock wire.
