what he means is bridging it to 4 ohms is like running both channels at 2 ohms, which "generally" gives double the power on each channel which and both channels add which gives 200w.

While this might be a nice assumption to make in my experience this dosent really happen in the real world, for example my 100w x 2 amp (at 4 ohms) bridges to 300w (at 4 ohms) rather than 400w.

basically that was my point, maybe i'm just being picky :P

a large number of amps are rated to do double-power at half-impedence (ie 2x at 2ohm vs 4ohm). I know there are a lot of amps that DON'T, but it seems like a larger number do. At least what comes thru the shop I work at. So lets say he has between 100 and 200W. Its not too big a difference anyways, if he pairs the right sub with it.

How much space are you going to have to play with? If I were you, I would go with an Atlas 12". It will move pretty good if you get the right enclosure for it. Plus it's only like $105!!!

i'm loving my JL 12W0. Sure it's old, and 'only' 125W, but i had a friend who ran his 300W all the time, and the JL was still solid for a year.

i'm running roughly 300W through the sub as well. I love JL

Image Dynamics 12" will do you just fine and sound better than most other subs. Most people like them better than JL because they are more efficient and are a high quality sub.

what model are we talking about? effeciency varies on both company's models. and I'd say JL is higher quality after all the problems ID has been having with the IDmax. The IDQ and IDv3 will give you w6v2 performance though, at a lower price.

For the amount of power you'll be running, an Elemental Designs 13kV would be your best bet. They sound absolutely amazing at any power level. Only get JL Audio if you care about a name that people hear every day, It seems some can't be convinced that theres something better than the big names.

If you're looking for something more ridiculous, I suggest Resonant Engineering. The SE's are good for SPL on a budget, the RE series are for someone with even more of a budget. A good mix of budget/performance is the SX. On the other end of the spectrum XXX is the ultimate in SPL/SQ combos and the MT is an all out throw everything you've got at it sub that's strictly for SPL (it can play music, but just not as accurate as the other subs.).

In audio, the underdogs always have it locked... the problem is getting people to realize it. In the words of 50 Cent "Hate it or Love it the underdogs on top." lol

RE has some good power speakers, but they aren't geared towards SQ as much as SPL. The Avalanche 12" by Ascendant Audio uses the same technology that RE uses for their subs (XBL^2), but are more geared towards SQ than SPL. Although RE isn't as expensive as JL it's still not cheap by any means. I think RE's XXX is the best looking sub I've ever seen.

I just ordered the last pieces for my system. 2 Elemental Design NINe.1 amps, which I'm stacking together to make 2500wrms. I'll be pushing 2 Avalanche 12's.

Images Dynamics makes some nice SQ subs if that's what you're only going for.

I agree. I have an ID sub and it has a shallow mounting depth and gives great bass response.

With that low a power rating I would use an IDv3 as it requires less than the IDQ.
